Product Brief Introduction

WOODWARD 5403-977 is a high-performance digital speed governor and control module designed for prime mover control systems, widely applied to steam turbines, gas turbines, diesel and gas engines in power generation, oil & gas and petrochemical industries. As a core component of Woodward’s digital control family, it integrates precise speed regulation, load control and fault diagnosis functions, supporting seamless connection with DCS and various Woodward controllers. With rugged industrial design, wide temperature tolerance and strong anti-interference ability, it ensures stable and reliable operation under harsh working conditions.

General Description

The WOODWARD 5403-977 is a microprocessor-based digital governor providing precision speed and load control for industrial prime movers. It accepts high-frequency speed signals and standard analog inputs (4–20 mA / 1–5 Vdc) for remote setpoint control, and outputs adjustable drive signals to electro-hydraulic actuators. The controller supports isochronous (zero droop) and droop control modes for stable grid parallel operation or isolated island operation. Built-in overspeed protection, speed limit, start-up control and comprehensive fault monitoring & alarm functions ensure unit safety. It adopts a compact panel-mount structure, with 24 VDC power supply, wide operating temperature range and strong vibration resistance, suitable for various harsh industrial environments.

Main Features

  1. High-precision digital speed governing, supporting speed range 500–12000 Hz

  2. Dual control modes: isochronous (zero droop) and droop (load sharing)

  3. Accepts 4–20 mA / 1–5 Vdc remote setpoint signals; compatible with DCS and most Woodward controllers

  4. Built-in overspeed trip protection, high/low speed limit and start-up fuel limiting

  5. Comprehensive fault diagnosis, alarm and self-diagnosis functions

  6. 24 VDC ±10% power supply; operating temperature -40 °C to +85 °C

  7. Compact panel-mount design, easy installation, debugging and maintenance

  8. Industrial-grade EMC, shock and vibration resistance for harsh field conditions
