T8193
Description
he T8193 is a three‑slot‑wide shield/protector for the Trusted TMR (Triple Modular Redundancy) safety system (T8100/T8300 chassis). It is a passive metal enclosure (no active electronics) used to fill empty three‑slot positions, maintain chassis airflow, shield against EMI/RFI, and protect internal backplane and modules from dust, moisture, and physical damage.
Form Factor: 3‑slot wide, metal construction
Compatibility: Trusted T8100 controller chassis, T8300 expander chassis
Function: Slot fill, EMI shielding, airflow management, environmental protection
Hot‑Swap: Install/remove online (system remains operational)
Safety: SIL 3 system integrity; IP40 protection when installed
Fill unused 3‑slot positions in Trusted chassis
Maintain proper cooling airflow and EMC shielding
Protect backplane and adjacent modules in safety‑critical systems (ESD, F&G, turbine control)

Grounding: Connects to chassis PE (protective earth) when installed
3. Installation
3.1 Insertion (Hot‑Swap Allowed)
Verify the target area is three consecutive empty slots in T8100/T8300.
Remove any existing blank panels from the three slots.
Align T8193 with chassis slot guides; push firmly until fully seated.
Secure the front latch to lock the shield in place.
Confirm proper grounding and flush alignment with adjacent modules.
3.2 Removal
Unlatch the front lock.
Pull the T8193 straight out from the chassis.
Replace with a new shield or reinstall modules as needed.
3.3 Cabling Clearance
T8193 is passive; no external connections required.
Ensure rear cabling (if any) does not obstruct insertion/removal.
4. Operation
4.1 Front Panel
No LEDs, switches, or ports (passive device).
Label: “T8193 Trusted Shield” + part number.
4.2 Normal Operation
Remains seated; maintains airflow and shielding during all system modes.
No configuration or software required.
Compatible with TMR fault tolerance and hot‑swap operations.
4.3 Maintenance
Inspect quarterly: check seating, latch tightness, and surface condition.
Clean annually: wipe with dry, lint‑free cloth; do not use liquids.
Verify chassis ground connection if EMC issues arise.
5. Fault Finding
5.1 Common Issues
Poor EMI Performance: Check seating; ensure latch is closed; verify chassis ground.
Airflow Noise/Overheating: Confirm no blockage; ensure T8193 fills exactly three slots.
Loose Fit: Inspect slot guides for damage; replace shield if bent.
5.2 Replacement
If damaged or bent, replace with a new T8193 (hot‑swap).
6. Safety & Compliance
Install only in Trusted T8100/T8300 chassis.
Keep in dry, dust‑free environment; avoid condensation.
Compliant with: CE, UL, CSA, IEC 61508 (SIL 3 system integration), EMC directives.
