Description

Maxon DSR 70/30 Shunt Regulator

Overview

The Maxon DSR 70/30 with part number 235811 is a shunt regulator for Maxon EPOS series servo positioning controllers. This DSR 70/30 absorbs regenerative energy generated during motor deceleration and braking, stabilizing the DC bus voltage and preventing overvoltage faults of the servo amplifier. It is widely used in high dynamic motion axes on automation skids, robotics, packaging equipment and precision handling systems. The serial number 602038000745 is the unique factory identification code for this unit.

Features

The Maxon DSR 70/30 is designed for regenerative energy handling of Maxon EPOS drives.DSR 70/30 provides adjustable threshold voltage from 12 V to 75 V. Integrated buffer capacitor bank of 8800 µF for energy storage. Short-term peak power dissipation up to 475 W, continuous power dissipation 25 W. Wide operating voltage range: 12–70 VDC. 10-pole 5 mm pitch terminal block, compatible with AWG 26–16 wires. Compact metal housing, suitable for DIN rail cabinet mounting. Overvoltage and overtemperature protection built-in. Directly compatible with EPOS3 and EPOS4 series positioning controllers. Compliant with CE and relevant industrial EMC standards.

Specs

Device Type: Shunt Regulator / Brake Chopper Model: Maxon DSR 70/30 Part number: 235811 Serial No.: 602038000745 Brand: Maxon Operating voltage: 12–70 VDC Adjustable threshold: 12–75 V Buffer capacitance: 8800 µF Peak power: 475 W Continuous power: 25 W Interface: 10-pole 5 mm terminal Dimensions: 180 × 103 × 26 mm Weight: 500 g Compatible drive: EPOS3, EPOS4 Status: Genuine Maxon servo accessory spare part

Principle

The Maxon DSR 70/30 monitors the DC bus voltage of the servo drive. When the bus voltage rises above the set threshold due to motor regeneration, the internal shunt circuit turns on and consumes the excess energy as heat. This suppresses voltage spikes and protects the positioning controller from overvoltage shutdown. The internal capacitor bank helps smooth transient voltage fluctuations.

Applications

The Maxon DSR 70/30 235811 is used for high dynamic servo axes with frequent acceleration and deceleration, including robotic joints, packaging skids, pick-and-place stations and precision automation equipment. The DSR 70/30 is stocked as spare replacement for Maxon EPOS drive systems.
