M2L GE M-Series Aluminum Oxide Trace Moisture Probe
M2L manufactured by GE Panametrics is a classic M-Series aluminum oxide moisture probe designed for trace moisture and dew point measurement in gases and non-aqueous liquids. It features 3/4"-16 UNF threaded stainless steel process connection with wide pressure adaptability, and the L-type calibration range covers -80°C to +20°C dew/frost point with extrapolated data down to -110°C. Each probe undergoes strict NIST-traceable factory calibration, air tightness and temperature cycling testing. The intrinsically safe design supports deployment in hazardous zones. Compatible with IQ-110, PM880 and other GE moisture analyzers, it serves as a direct replacement sensing unit, delivering stable, repeatable moisture data and supporting long-term quality control for petrochemical, industrial gas and semiconductor production systems.
Description
M2L GE M-Series trace moisture probe is a front-end sensing component for industrial hygrometry systems, widely installed in natural gas pipelines, compressed air drying stations, semiconductor process gas loops, petrochemical facilities and thermal treatment furnaces. Developed based on mature thin-film aluminum oxide sensing principle, the probe converts trace water vapor concentration into measurable electrical signals and transmits data to matched moisture analyzers for real-time dew point and ppmv moisture readouts. Every unit completes independent calibration before shipment to guarantee consistent measuring performance during long-cycle continuous online operation.
The probe adopts robust 300-series stainless steel body with standard 3/4"-16 straight thread and Viton O-ring sealing, supporting working pressure from high vacuum up to 5000 PSIG. The L calibration specification delivers reliable measurement ranging from -80°C to +20°C dew/frost point, and allows reliable extrapolation for ultra-low frost point conditions down to -110°C. Fast response characteristics enable rapid capture of moisture fluctuation inside process media, helping operators detect abnormal purification efficiency timely. Multiple optional configurations including protective end caps and built-in temperature thermistors can be selected according to field process requirements.
Intrinsically safe circuit design meets international hazardous area standards. When paired with certified analyzers or safety barriers, the probe can operate safely in flammable and explosive environments without extra bulky explosion-proof enclosures, lowering overall engineering investment. Optimized mechanical shielding structure improves resistance to medium erosion and mild mechanical vibration, adapting to both sampling system installation and direct insertion into process pipelines.
When existing probes suffer surface contamination, aging or measurement drift, M2L can be used as a compatible spare replacement. Unified mechanical interface and signal specifications avoid pipeline reconstruction. After installation and brief stabilization, the moisture monitoring system can resume normal operation without complex recalibration procedures, greatly shortening equipment downtime. Accurate trace moisture monitoring effectively prevents pipeline corrosion, catalyst deactivation and defective finished products caused by excessive water vapor.
Compared with newer digital MIS probes, the M2L analog M-series probe has proven long-term stability and broad compatibility with legacy GE hygrometer equipment, making it the preferred spare part for upgrading and maintaining older measurement platforms. Routine maintenance mainly involves periodic calibration and filter inspection, without frequent component replacement.
With wide measuring range, high pressure tolerance and mature field verification, M2L GE moisture probe remains a reliable choice for industrial trace moisture monitoring. It supplies continuous credible analytical data and ensures safe, stable and high-efficiency operation of modern industrial process control systems.
