Woodward 5461-062 is a microprocessor-based rack-mounted digital synchronizer module, perfectly matched with Woodward 505 series governors and generator AVR equipment for three-phase generator grid paralleling tasks. It automatically completes the calibration of voltage, frequency and phase difference between generator output and public grid, and outputs analog bias signals and discrete contact commands to adjust turbine speed and excitation voltage, realizing bumpless safe closing for steam turbines, gas turbines and diesel generator units. Description
Designed and produced in accordance with Woodward’s industrial power safety standards and EMC anti-interference specifications, the 5461-062 adopts a standard plug-in metal casing for cabinet installation, with excellent structural rigidity and vibration resistance to adapt to continuous mechanical vibration generated by on-site turbine rotors, fans and pump groups during long-term running. The internal printed circuit board is coated with high-temperature, damp-proof and anti-corrosion conformal coating; backplane gold fingers and external wiring terminals are processed with gold-plated anti-oxidation treatment, effectively avoiding sampling signal distortion, poor terminal contact and synchronization failure caused by cabinet dust accumulation, humid gas erosion and long-term alternating temperature aging in unattended working conditions. Multi-layer built-in electromagnetic shielding structure filters electromagnetic interference from high-voltage power distribution cabinets and frequency converters, preventing phase detection misjudgment and synchronization oscillation under complex industrial electromagnetic environments.
This synchronizer module takes 24 VDC as standard working power supply, operating stably within ambient temperature of 0 °C to 60 °C with 95% non-condensing humidity, satisfying the installation demands of central control cabinets and local field control boxes of generator sets. Multiple built-in hardware protection mechanisms cover overvoltage, overcurrent, reverse power supply, grid voltage sampling loss and generator voltage signal loss protection. Once abnormal sampling signals or internal circuit faults are detected, the module will lock all output signals to the interlock forbidden closing state and store fault records, preventing large current impact on power grid and equipment damage caused by asynchronous closing faults. Working status indicator lights and precision calibration potentiometers are arranged on the panel for on-site setting of synchronization response sensitivity, closing window threshold and dynamic gain parameters. The embedded high-precision phase-locked tracking algorithm dynamically tracks the operating parameters of grid and generator, outputs low-current PWM analog bias signals to the turbine governor system and pulse adjustment signals to the excitation regulator. Users can flexibly configure dead zone and response speed according to different generator capacities and prime mover response characteristics to suppress speed overshoot and voltage fluctuation during paralleling process, realizing smooth switching from independent off-grid operation to grid-connected load operation. The module is compatible with most mainstream governors and excitation regulators on the market without additional signal conversion modules, simplifying the overall field control system layout.
Each finished 5461-062 synchronizer passes full standardized factory tests including synchronization precision calibration, high-low temperature cyclic aging test, EMC anti-interference test and long-term continuous load durability test, maintaining ultra-low failure rate in the whole service life cycle.
