Woodward 5460-841 is a panel-mounted microprocessor 2301A governor designed for reverse-acting hydraulic actuators, equipped with integrated multi-unit load sharing function. It collects real-time speed signals from magnetic pickup sensors and outputs corresponding control current to reverse-acting actuators to stabilize prime mover speed under variable load conditions. Supporting isochronous parallel load distribution for multiple generators and droop control for single unit grid connection, this controller is widely used in steam turbines, gas turbines, diesel and gas generator sets of waste heat power plants, petrochemical captive power systems and emergency power supply stations. Combined with external synchronizers and factory DCS system, it realizes stable parallel operation, automatic load balance and basic overspeed interlock protection for power generating equipment.

Description

Developed and manufactured following Woodward global power-grade reliability specifications and EMC anti-interference criteria, the 5460-841 adopts a sealed integrated metal panel casing with strong mechanical rigidity and vibration resistance, coping with long-term vibration disturbance from turbine rotors, cooling fans and water pumps in industrial sites. Internal circuit boards are coated with high-temperature, moisture-proof and anti-corrosion conformal coating; backplane contacts and external wiring terminals are processed with gold-plated anti-oxidation treatment, effectively preventing signal attenuation, poor contact and control output drift caused by cabinet dust deposition, humid gas corrosion and long-term temperature alternating aging during continuous unattended operation. Multi-layer internal electromagnetic shielding structure suppresses EMI noise from high-voltage power distribution cabinets and frequency converters, eliminating actuator hunting and periodic speed fluctuation under complex industrial electromagnetic environments.
The governor adopts standard 24 VDC power supply, operating steadily within ambient temperature from 0 °C to 60 °C with maximum 95% non-condensing humidity, matching the installation layout of central control rooms and local turbine field cabinets. Built-in complete hardware protection modules cover overvoltage, overcurrent, reverse power supply and speed signal loss alarm functions. Status indicator LEDs and precision adjustable potentiometers are arranged on the front panel for local speed calibration, load sharing coefficient setting and real-time running status observation. Operators can switch between isochronous mode for multi-generator busbar parallel operation and droop mode for single unit grid-connected power generation via internal parameter configuration. Optimized built-in PID algorithm calculates speed deviation value and outputs standard driving current for reverse actuators to build a complete closed-loop speed governing system together with speed feedback signals. Reserved 4–20mA remote analog setpoint channel and RS422 communication interface receive remote instructions from upper DCS and official configuration software, supporting remote parameter modification, real-time data upload and historical fault record query. Technicians can tune proportional, integral and differential parameters flexibly according to mechanical response features of reverse actuators to lower speed overshoot and oscillation during sudden load changes.
