Woodward 5450-106 is a dedicated actuation system controller (ASC) developed by Woodward, serving as the core closed-loop control unit for hydraulic, pneumatic and electric actuator systems on industrial steam turbines, gas turbines and compressor units. Matching perfectly with the 505/505E governor series, the device receives position feedback signals from LVDT and RVDT sensors, converts upper-level speed and opening commands into high-precision drive signals for servo valves and actuator drivers, and realizes real-time closed-loop correction of valve position to guarantee stable adjustment of steam intake valves, extraction valves and bypass valves. Widely deployed in petrochemical captive power plants, waste heat power stations, thermal power units and large industrial turbo equipment, it undertakes accurate execution of governor output instructions to improve the overall control linearity and dynamic response of the turbine control system.
Description
Designed and produced complying with Woodward’s global power-grade industrial control reliability specifications, the 5450-106 adopts a compact plug-in metal module structure suitable for standard cabinet rail installation. The internal circuit substrate is coated with high-temperature resistant anti-corrosion conformal coating, and all signal wiring terminals adopt gold-plated anti-oxidation treatment, effectively resisting signal deviation caused by cabinet internal humidity, dust accumulation and long-term temperature cycling aging. A multi-level electromagnetic shielding isolation structure is built inside the module to filter out electromagnetic interference generated by high-voltage power distribution cabinets, frequency converters and large rotating equipment, avoiding actuator jitter and position offset triggered by industrial field electromagnetic noise. The module supports standard 24 VDC working power supply, with low overall power consumption; the applicable working temperature range is 0℃~60℃ under non-condensing humidity conditions, adapting to the conventional operating environment of industrial control rooms and turbine local control cabinets. It integrates complete hardware protection mechanisms such as overvoltage, overcurrent, reverse power connection and feedback signal loss alarm. Once abnormal working conditions are detected, the controller will lock the output state and upload fault alarm information to the upper system, protecting servo actuators, servo valves and turbine actuating mechanisms from impact damage caused by abnormal control signals.
The controller uses embedded high-speed operation chips to process valve setpoint values and actual position feedback data in real time, with fast closed-loop response speed and small steady-state position error. It supports independent parameter configuration of proportional gain, integral coefficient and differential parameters through upper computer configuration software, which can be optimized according to the mechanical characteristics of different actuators to eliminate overshoot and oscillation during valve opening adjustment. The reserved analog signal interface and communication interface can seamlessly interact with Woodward 505E governors, upload real-time valve opening, operating status and fault codes to the DCS monitoring platform via Modbus communication protocol, realizing remote centralized monitoring of the actuating system operation status. Multiple groups of isolated analog input and output channels are configured inside the product, which can access multi-channel position feedback signals and output multi-path continuous regulating signals to drive different groups of actuators synchronously or independently, meeting the joint control requirements of main steam valves and extraction control valves of dual-extraction turbines.
Each finished 5450-106 actuator controller passes strict factory testing items including closed-loop control precision calibration, anti-electromagnetic interference testing, high and low temperature cyclic aging testing and long-term continuous operation stability testing, maintaining an ultra-low failure rate throughout the whole service life cycle. The product is mainly used for the supporting actuating control of newly built turbine units, the renovation and upgrading of old unit actuating control loops, the emergency replacement of on-site faulty actuator control modules and the daily reserve management of spare parts. The daily maintenance workload is low; maintenance personnel only need to regularly wipe the surface dust of the module and check the fastening degree of wiring terminals under normal operating conditions, and frequent calibration and parameter adjustment are not required. With high control precision, strong actuator matching compatibility and stable long-term operating performance, Woodward 5450-106 has become a standard supporting actuating control component for global thermal power, petrochemical and waste heat utilization industries, providing reliable bottom execution guarantee for safe, stable and efficient regulation operation of various turbine equipment.
