Woodward 5448-906 SPM-D10 Digital Synchronizer
Woodward 5448-906 is a microprocessor-based SPM-D10 intelligent synchronizer module, widely matched with 505E turbine governors and various automatic voltage regulators for three-phase generator sets in thermal power plants, chemical self-owned power stations and waste heat power generation systems. The module collects bus voltage, generator voltage and frequency real-time signals, automatically completes frequency tracking, voltage matching and phase alignment, and outputs bias adjustment signals to the speed governor and excitation regulator to realize closed-loop automatic paralleling for single or dual circuit breakers. It supports real RMS voltage detection to suppress harmonic interference, and works cooperatively with Woodward 505 series turbine control units to ensure safe, stable grid connection of generator units.
Description
Designed and manufactured in accordance with Woodward global power industry control standards, the 5448-906 adopts a standard panel-mounted sealed metal shell with excellent anti-vibration and anti-interference performance, adapting to long-term vibration impact in industrial control rooms and power equipment rooms. Internal circuit boards are coated with conformal anti-corrosion paint, and all signal terminals adopt gold-plated oxidation-resistant treatment to avoid signal drift caused by damp air, dust deposition and long-term temperature fluctuation inside the cabinet. The built-in multi-stage electromagnetic isolation structure effectively filters interference from high-voltage distribution cabinets, frequency converters and large rotating equipment, avoiding mis-operation during grid paralleling caused by industrial electromagnetic noise. The standard power supply is 24 VDC, with optional wide-range AC/DC power input of 90~250 Vac / 120~375 Vdc; the maximum power consumption is controlled within 10 W, the operating temperature range is -20℃ ~ 70℃, and the ambient humidity is allowed up to 95% non-condensing to meet harsh on-site working conditions. Equipped with complete hardware protection mechanisms including overvoltage, overcurrent, reverse connection and signal loss alarm, it will lock the output signal and send fault alarm when abnormal signals occur, protecting the governor, excitation equipment and generator body from impact damage.
The front panel is equipped with indicator lights for synchronization state, fault alarm and breaker closing permission, with intuitive state display without complex code query. Parameter configuration depends on supporting DPC configuration cable and dedicated upper computer software, realizing one-click setting of synchronization allowable difference, closing advance angle, regulation response speed and protection threshold; stored parameters can be permanently saved without battery power supply loss. The core synchronization algorithm realizes high-precision synchronous tracking with Class 1 measurement accuracy, effectively eliminating the influence of ground loop interference through electrical isolation design. It supports independent adjustment of frequency bias and voltage bias output, can be matched with almost all mainstream turbine governors and excitation regulators on the market, and supports synchronous control of two breakers at the same time to meet unit standby power switching and multi-section grid connection requirements. When cooperating with the 505E turbine governor, the synchronization bias signal is transmitted to the governor’s analog input port to realize joint regulation of turbine speed and generator frequency, greatly reducing grid connection impact current and mechanical torque impact of the unit during paralleling.
Each finished 5448-906 synchronizer passes strict factory calibration tests including synchronization accuracy test, anti-interference test, temperature cycle aging test and long-time continuous running stability test, maintaining ultra-low failure rate in the whole service cycle. This product is mainly applied to automatic grid connection reconstruction of old generator sets, supporting synchronous matching of newly-built steam turbine generator units, emergency replacement of faulty synchronization modules and daily spare parts reserve management. Daily maintenance workload is low; staff only need to regularly clean surface dust and check terminal wiring tightness, and regular parameter verification is not required under normal operating conditions. Combined with the Modbus communication function reserved by the module, it can upload synchronization state, fault records and real-time electrical parameters to the upper DCS monitoring platform, realizing remote monitoring and unattended operation management of the grid connection process. With high synchronization precision, stable output performance and strong equipment compatibility, Woodward 5448-906 has become the standard matching synchronization hardware for global thermal power, petrochemical and waste heat power industries, providing reliable guarantee for safe and smooth grid-connected operation of various generator units.
