The 5217D29 is a standard multi-channel isolated analog input module belonging to Emerson Ovation DCS I/O series, designed for collecting standard 4–20mA DC signals from field two-wire transmitters, performing high-precision A/D conversion, and transmitting digital measurement data to the DPU controller for parameter monitoring, closed-loop regulation and safety interlock logic judgment.
It adopts rack plug-in installation and supports hot-swap replacement without interrupting the operation of other modules in the same control rack. Each input channel is equipped with independent galvanic isolation, surge suppression and overvoltage protection circuits (isolation withstand voltage 1000 V AC/DC), which effectively eliminates ground loop interference caused by long-distance field cables and prevents abnormal field voltage from damaging the rack backplane bus circuits. Built-in full-channel online diagnostics can detect loop open circuit, short circuit, transmitter power loss and internal hardware faults in real time, with fault codes uploaded to the operator workstation for remote alarm and maintenance scheduling.
Channel scaling, digital filtering time constant, engineering unit conversion and fault response strategies can be configured uniformly via Ovation engineering software. It features low temperature drift, high linearity and excellent EMC performance, widely used in thermal power, petrochemical, metallurgy and other large continuous process control projects.
Technical Specifications
Input Channel Parameters
Multiple mutually isolated analog input channels, fully compatible with industrial standard 4–20mA two-wire transmitters;
Each channel integrates loop power supply monitoring, convenient for rapid on-site troubleshooting of transmitters and wiring faults;
Configurable digital filtering suppresses high-frequency signal jitter and measurement noise.
Acquisition Accuracy
High-resolution A/D conversion circuit is adopted, typical full-scale accuracy ≤ ±0.1% FS, outstanding long-term stability, meeting the precision requirements for key process parameters such as boiler drum level, main steam pressure, feedwater flow and turbine lube oil temperature in power plant control loops.
Electrical Characteristics
Power is supplied entirely through the Ovation rack backplane, no external auxiliary power wiring required. Low power consumption imposes negligible load on rack redundant power supplies. Delivered with matched dedicated rear terminal base for centralized field cable termination, simplifying on-site wiring construction and routine maintenance.
Diagnosis & Configuration
Continuous self-test covers internal hardware circuits and each external field input loop;
Front panel LEDs display real-time running status; fault information is synchronously uploaded to the upper monitoring system;
Each channel supports independent configuration of scaling range, filtering parameters and alarm enable switches to adapt to different field measuring instruments.
Environmental Conditions
Operating temperature: 0 ℃ ~ +60 ℃
Storage & transport temperature: −40 ℃ ~ +85 ℃
Relative humidity: ≤95% RH, non-condensing
Unified mechanical dimensions of Ovation standard I/O modules, interchangeable arbitrarily in rack slots
Front Panel LED Indicators
OK indicator (green): Module hardware and communication operate normally;
Separate channel LEDs: Real-time signal access state of each input channel;
Fault indicator (red): Alarm for hardware failure or abnormal field signal loop.
