3. Application Fields

  • Power Generation: Ovation DCS core network, controller-I/O communication, redundant ring topologies.

  • Petrochemical: Remote I/O networking, ESD system interconnection, field-to-control room fiber links.

  • Water Treatment: SCADA Ethernet backbones, sensor/actuator data aggregation, redundant network failover.

  • General Process Industries: Metallurgy, pulp & paper, cement—industrial network segmentation and high-availability redundancy.

4. Installation & Wiring

  1. Pre-installation: Disconnect 24 VDC power; ensure DIN-rail (35 mm) is properly grounded.

  2. Mounting: Snap module onto DIN-rail; secure with locking tab to prevent vibration loosening.

  3. Power Connection: Connect 24 VDC to PWR1 and PWR2 terminals (redundant operation recommended for reliability).

  4. Ethernet Wiring:

    • Copper: Connect CAT5e/CAT6 cables to RJ45 ports (1–8) for 10/100 Mbps links.

    • Fiber: Insert certified 100 Mbps SFP transceivers into SFP slots; connect single/multi-mode fiber cables.

  5. Grounding: Attach chassis ground lug to system earth to suppress EMI/ESD.

5. Operation & Diagnostics

  • Power-on: Green PWR1/PWR2 LEDs solid when respective power inputs are active.

  • Port Status: Yellow LINK/ACT LED = link established; blinking = data transmission.

  • Fault Indication: Red FAULT LED = power failure, port error, RSTP ring fault, or hardware anomaly.

  • Management: Configure via Ovation workstation, web interface, or CLI; monitor port status, VLANs, and redundancy health.

6. Maintenance & Safety

  • Preventive Maintenance: Inspect cable connections quarterly; update firmware annually; test redundant power failover semi-annually.

  • Safety:

    • Disconnect all power before servicing to avoid electric shock.

    • Use only Emerson-certified SFP transceivers and Ethernet cables.

    • Operate within specified temperature/humidity limits to prevent overheating.

    • Ensure proper grounding to avoid electrical damage and EMI interference.

7. Product Status

  • Lifecycle: Active (current production); factory-certified spares available.

  • Compatibility: Fully compatible with Ovation DCS (v3.6+), WDPF, and standard industrial Ethernet devices.

  • Certifications: CE, UL, cUL, RoHS compliant.
