3185455-F

3185455-F is a dedicated RTD resistance temperature detector input module developed for Emerson Ovation distributed control system, matched with Ovation main controller and series I/O accessories including 3169926C0, 3174287-D and 3174287-O for cabinet backplane bus communication and combined installation. This module focuses on precise field temperature signal collection by receiving resistance variation signals from PT100, PT1000 and other standard RTD sensors deployed in power plants, petrochemical and chemical production sites, converting analog resistance signals into digital data and uploading processed temperature values to upper host monitoring system via cabinet backplane bus.

Description

The module adopts full-channel isolated circuit design with built-in surge suppression, overvoltage, reverse connection and open-circuit detection protection to counter electromagnetic interference, power surge and unstable field wiring conditions widely seen in industrial control environments. It supports standard DIN rail fixed installation inside Ovation I/O cabinet and features hot-swap capability; maintenance staff can replace the faulty module individually without cutting off power supply of the whole cabinet or adjacent control loops to reduce system downtime during on-site overhaul. Equipped with onboard multi-color LED status indicators and embedded automatic hardware self-test program, the unit can real-time feed power status, bus communication state, channel open-circuit fault and abnormal measurement data back to Ovation configuration software for remote fault diagnosis and alarm prompting. This model is primarily applied to boiler wall temperature, pipeline medium temperature, equipment bearing temperature and reactor temperature monitoring loops of thermal power, oil refining and process chemical industries.

2. Detailed Technical Specifications

2.1 Signal & Channel Specification

This RTD input module is configured with multiple independent measurement channels, supporting 2-wire, 3-wire and 4-wire connection modes of mainstream industrial RTD sensors including PT100, PT200 and PT1000; onboard constant current excitation circuit ensures stable resistance sampling and effectively eliminates measurement error caused by field wire resistance deviation. The internal ADC chip features high conversion resolution for temperature conversion, with full-scale measurement accuracy controlled within ±0.1% of full range to guarantee long-term stable temperature acquisition precision. Built-in wire break diagnosis function automatically identifies open or broken RTD field cables and triggers system fault alarm to avoid invalid abnormal temperature data uploading to control system. Module signal refresh rate is configurable in Ovation configuration software to adapt to different process temperature changing speeds on production site.

2.2 Electrical Specification

Rated working control power for the module is supplied from Ovation cabinet backplane bus, operating under standard industrial DC control voltage range; internal circuit integrates independent channel isolation structure with isolation withstand voltage reaching 1000V AC between field signal side and internal bus side to isolate interference from field high voltage surge and stray current. Each channel is equipped with miniature overcurrent protection component to prevent component burnout from instantaneous short-circuit of field RTD wiring; common-mode signal rejection ratio of the input circuit is up to 120dB for strong suppression of industrial site common-mode interference noise.

2.3 Environmental Working Specification

Rated continuous operating ambient temperature ranges from 0 degree Celsius to +60 degree Celsius inside sealed control cabinet; permissible storage temperature for spare modules without power supply is from minus 40 degree Celsius to +85 degree Celsius during warehouse preservation and transportation. The module can work normally under ambient relative humidity within 5% to 95% non-condensing environment, resisting mild dust and weak damp existing in conventional industrial control cabinet space; it cannot be installed in locations with persistent corrosive gas, continuous liquid splashing or heavy oil mist accumulation. The finished product passes CE and EMC industrial electromagnetic compatibility certification to meet global industrial automation equipment standard requirements.

2.4 Mechanical & System Compatibility Specification

The module follows unified Ovation series I/O dimension standard and standard DIN rail mounting specification, capable of being fixed on general-purpose 35mm DIN rail inside Ovation base wiring rack and connecting to cabinet backplane bus through gold finger docking structure. Automatic hardware address identification is realized by backplane slot position after module insertion, no extra manual dial address setting needed during configuration to simplify field debugging steps. It fully matches Ovation DCS upper configuration software, supporting online bus scanning, channel parameter configuration, engineering unit conversion and alarm threshold setup; all configured parameters can be stored into onboard non-volatile memory to avoid data loss after temporary power failure of cabinet.

2.5 Protection & Diagnostic Function Specification

Besides channel overcurrent and surge protection, the module integrates multi-layer fault diagnosis logic covering power supply abnormality, backplane communication interruption, single channel open circuit and internal hardware failure; different color LED indicators separately display normal power, healthy bus communication, external field fault and internal circuit malfunction states for quick on-site troubleshooting by maintenance personnel. All generated fault codes and abnormal records can be recorded into Ovation system historical log for later equipment failure analysis and regular equipment maintenance statistics.
