Emerson 1C31179G01 | Ovation Remote I/O Link Controller Module
Description
Part Code Definition
1C31xxx: Ovation compact remote I/O series prefix
179: exclusive code for RIO link controller master card
G01: first generation hardware revision
Technical Specifications
Backplane 5VDC power supply, typical power consumption 5.2W;
Dedicated RIO field bus port based on RS485 differential transmission, max bus length 1200m, up to 31 slave remote I/O racks cascaded;
Bus communication rate fixed 19200bps with built-in hardware CRC error check;
1500VAC isolation between field bus circuit and system internal backplane bus;
Working ambient: -40℃~+70℃, 5%~90%RH non-condensing, supports hot plug in standard Ovation rack;
Dimension:45×158×272mm, net weight approx 0.37kg.
Interface & Communication Layout
Rear golden finger connects chassis backplane for Ovation internal control bus data exchange;
Front terminal port for shielded RS485 trunk wiring to subordinate remote I/O cabinets;
Front panel LED indicators: RUN normal operation lamp, FAULT module failure lamp, COM bus communication status lamp.
Core Functions
Master scheduling of entire remote I/O bus, cyclic polling all downstream slave I/O modules;
Forward field collected AI/DI data upward to Ovation main controller, distribute DCS downlink DO/AO control commands to remote I/O racks;
Full bus fault diagnosis: bus short/open, slave rack offline, module abnormal, fault codes automatically uploaded to DCS for system alarm record;
Online bus node address & communication parameter configuration via Ovation engineering software without module offline;
Single slave rack fault isolated without affecting operation of other remote stations on the same bus.
Application Scenarios
Thermal power plant boiler auxiliary equipment remote I/O cabinet, turbine auxiliary system distributed signal collection; petrochemical on-site field separation cabinet remote I/O expansion, old DCS renovation spare stocking.
Operation & Maintenance Notes
RIO trunk uses double-core shielded twisted cable, single-point shielding grounded inside main control cabinet;
Install 120Ω terminal matching resistor at the two extreme ends of RS485 bus; separate bus cable from high-power AC cable to eliminate EMI interference;
Regularly inspect terminal tightness and bus online status; replace module when persistent total bus communication breakdown after field wiring troubleshooting.
