Product Description

07AC91 is a hybrid analog input and output module for ABB Procontic and Advant AC31 series, with the standard part number GJR5252300R0101. Originally designed and manufactured in Sweden, this module is a remote I/O unit adapted to the CS31 system bus. It supports multi-channel analog signal acquisition and analog output at the same time, and is fully compatible with legacy distributed control systems and PLC equipment such as ABB Procontic, Advant OCS and AC31. This model has been officially discontinued by the manufacturer. Currently, the available products on the market mainly include new old stock, used spare parts and refurbished units, which are widely used for faulty module replacement, daily maintenance and small-scale system expansion of legacy industrial control systems.

Model Number Interpretation

07 indicates that the module belongs to the ABB Procontic 07 series I/O module system. AC represents a hybrid analog input and output module with integrated AI acquisition and AO output functions. 91 is the exclusive specification code of the module, standing for a standard hybrid I/O module with 16 configurable analog channels, 8-bit/12-bit dual resolution and CS31 bus communication. The version without letter suffix is the standard basic hardware version of the original factory.

Technical Specifications

This module is a 16-channel hybrid analog input and output module with two operating modes. The 12-bit high-precision mode provides 8 analog input channels and 8 analog output channels, while the 8-bit general mode allows 16 channels to be freely paired and configured as input or output. It is compatible with multiple industrial standard analog signals, including ±10V, 0-10V, 0-20mA and 4-20mA. It supports dual resolution switching; the 8-bit mode is suitable for conventional control scenarios, and the 12-bit mode meets high-precision control requirements. The analog input accuracy is ±0.1% full scale, and the analog output accuracy is ±0.2% full scale. For single-channel load capacity, the maximum load of current output is 500 ohms, and the voltage output load is no less than 10 kiloohms. It features reliable electrical isolation performance with 500V AC isolation voltage between channels, 1000V AC isolation voltage between channel and ground, and 500V AC isolation voltage between power supply and bus. It adopts 24VDC power supply with an operating voltage range from 19.2V to 30V and a maximum power consumption of 15 watts. With a standard single-slot structure and DIN rail mounting method, the module weighs approximately 0.4 kilograms. The operating ambient temperature ranges from 0°C to 55°C, the operating relative humidity is 10% to 90% without condensation.

Interface and Communication Configuration

The back of the module adopts a gold finger interface to connect with the CS31 system bus, realizing high-speed data interaction with the main control unit. Electrical isolation is designed between the bus circuit and the internal circuit of the module. The front of the module is equipped with a detachable terminal block, integrating 24VDC power supply terminals, grounding terminals and 16 analog signal input and output terminals. The panel is equipped with three status indicators for power supply, bus communication and fault to synchronize the module operating status in real time. The module supports hardware DIL switch configuration to switch channel resolution and signal range without independent programming interface. All channel addresses, parameter calibration and operation configurations are uniformly set by the upper master control system.

Core Functions

It supports flexible configuration of 16 analog channels, which can synchronously collect analog signals from on-site sensors such as temperature, pressure, liquid level and flow, and output standard analog control signals to drive regulating valves, frequency converters, proportional actuators and other equipment. Equipped with 8-bit and 12-bit dual resolution switching functions, it can freely switch modes according to on-site control accuracy requirements. The comprehensive electrical isolation design effectively isolates electromagnetic interference in industrial sites and ensures accurate and stable analog signal transmission. Built-in overvoltage protection and output short-circuit protection mechanisms will automatically cut off the corresponding channel when line faults are detected, protecting the module itself and on-site load equipment. It supports online hot swapping of the CS31 bus, allowing module replacement without system shutdown to ensure continuous production line operation. It has complete self-diagnosis functions, which can quickly judge various problems such as communication abnormalities, channel faults and wiring errors through indicator lights for rapid maintenance.

Application Scenarios

It is mainly used for faulty module replacement, daily maintenance and system expansion of legacy automatic control systems such as ABB Procontic, Advant AC31 and System 800xA. It is adapted to process industrial scenarios such as chemical industry, metallurgy, water treatment, papermaking and HVAC, realizing parameter collection, monitoring and closed-loop automatic control. Suitable for small and medium-sized automatic control stations, it can be deployed as an on-site remote I/O unit to centrally complete the collection and control output of multiple analog signals.

Usage and Maintenance Instructions

The module adopts standard DIN rail mounting and supports CS31 bus hot swapping. The power supply must be cut off before wiring. Connect sensors and executing equipment strictly in accordance with terminal definitions, fasten wiring terminals to avoid poor contact and loosening, and separate strong and weak current wiring to prevent signal interference. Set channel resolution and signal type through the panel DIL switches. After power-on, complete address allocation and parameter calibration via the upper master control system, and the module will operate normally after configuration. During daily operation, regularly check the status of panel indicators. Steady power light and normally flashing communication light indicate normal operation; if the fault light is always on, check the line connection, load equipment and bus communication status in a timely manner. Regularly clean dust on the module surface, wiring terminals and cabinet every month, and check the tightness of terminals to prevent faults caused by terminal oxidation and loosening. Keep the operating environment ventilated and dry, away from strong electromagnetic interference sources such as frequency converters and high-power motors, and strictly control the ambient temperature and humidity within the rated range. In case of abnormal signals, check the power supply voltage, wiring circuits, load equipment and system configuration parameters in sequence. Do not disassemble the module privately. During long-term shutdown, disconnect the module power supply and take dust-proof and moisture-proof protection measures.
