Product Description
45C-411B, also named 45C411B, is an enhanced control processor module for Reliance Electric (now ABB) AutoMate 40E series PLC. It is the second hardware revision of 45C-411. This module works with 45C-400 logic processor to expand system I/O capacity and improve overall operation and communication performance, which is designed for large-scale high-density automation control systems. This model has been discontinued. Currently only refurbished units, second-hand spare parts and limited new old stock are available for maintenance and replacement of legacy systems.
Model Number Interpretation
45C is the unified prefix for control components of Reliance AutoMate 45C series. 411 stands for enhanced control processor, featuring larger I/O capacity and better operation performance compared with the basic 410 series. B represents the second hardware revision, which optimizes circuit anti-interference capability, operational stability and compatibility, and fixes potential defects of earlier versions. 45C-411B and 45C411B are two writing forms of the same product. It can directly replace 45C-411 and is backward compatible with 45C-410, 45C-410A and 45C-410C.
Technical Specifications

Interface and Communication Configuration
External RS-232 DB9 port connects programmers, HMI, upper monitoring devices and other third-party equipment for program upload, download and real-time data exchange. The dedicated high-speed backplane bus realizes data transmission with 45C-400 logic processor, I/O modules and other co-processors. There are no DIP switches on the module. All communication parameters and addresses are configured via supporting programming software. It supports R-Net dedicated industrial network and standard RS-232 communication with ASCII and binary data transmission modes. Optional baud rates include 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600 and 19200 bps.
Core Functions
It supports management of up to 8192 digital I/O points to meet high-density control demands of large production lines and process industries. The high-performance processor executes complex ladder logic and high-level language programs, and handles interrupt responses for critical signals. The built-in 16K non-volatile RAM keeps programs and data intact after power failure without backup battery. It supports RS-232 and R-Net networking to connect with upper computers and remote devices for distributed control. The integrated self-diagnosis system activates alarm indicators and records fault codes during abnormal operation for quick troubleshooting. It supports multi-task partition operation to handle multiple control tasks simultaneously for complex industrial processes.
Application Scenarios
It is used to replace aging 45C-411 and 45C-410 series modules in AutoMate 40E, 40X and AutoMax legacy systems for performance upgrade. It applies to large production lines in automotive, metallurgy, papermaking, textile and water treatment industries with massive I/O points. It is suitable for process control scenarios such as chemical, energy and power industries requiring large-scale data collection and complex logic operation. It builds multi-node remote monitoring systems via R-Net network. It helps reduce renovation costs by reusing existing I/O modules and wiring during equipment retrofitting.
Usage and Maintenance Instructions
Cut off the total power supply of the whole system before installation or removal. Clean dust and oxide on the rack slot to ensure reliable contact. Insert the module into the slot and tighten fixing screws firmly. Connect RS-232 cables correctly and check backplane connection. Power on the system after all connections are finished, download and verify control programs via programming software.Check LED indicators regularly during daily operation. Normal status shows steady PWR light and flashing RUN light. Clean dust on the module and rack periodically with dry compressed air. Keep the cabinet well ventilated and maintain the operating temperature within the specified range. If the PWR indicator is off, check backplane power supply and rack fuse. If the RUN indicator does not work, reload programs or check the matched 45C-400 module. For communication failures, inspect wiring and verify baud rate and communication parameters. If the FAULT indicator stays on, restart the module. Replace the module if the problem persists.Always cut off power before disassembly and maintenance. Avoid severe vibration and impact. Do not disassemble the module privately. Arrange professional maintenance once hardware damage occurs. Disconnect the power supply for dustproof and moisture proof during long-term shutdown.
