The 45C-203 is a dedicated serial communication processor for Reliance AutoMate 30, 40 and 45C series PLC systems. It handles serial data transmission independently to lighten the workload of the main CPU. This module supports connection with external devices via RS-232 and 20mA current loop interfaces. The product is no longer in production. Only surplus, refurbished or new old stock units are available for maintenance and replacement of legacy industrial automation systems.

45C is the unified prefix for all modules of the Reliance AutoMate PLC series. 203 represents the serial communication processor. The hyphen is a common industrial writing format for the part number, and this model is functionally identical to 45C203.

The module receives 24VDC power from the system backplane. It is fitted with one DB9 port for RS-232 communication and one terminal block for 20mA current loop connection. It supports ASCII, XON/XOFF and Reliance proprietary communication protocols. It features two working modes, host mode and program control mode.
