The 45C15 is a central CPU module for Reliance Electric AutoMate 15 PLC systems. It acts as the main processing unit to run control programs, manage I/O signals and handle internal communication within the rack. This product is obsolete and no longer in production. Only surplus, refurbished or used units are available for maintenance and replacement of legacy automation equipment.

45C is the unified prefix for AutoMate series PLC and related control modules. 15 represents the AutoMate 15 compact PLC platform. This base model is the original version before subsequent hardware revisions.

This is a rack-mounted PLC processor module. It supports dual input voltage of 115V AC and 230V AC at 50/60Hz, with rated current of 0.5A and 0.25A respectively. It is equipped with 1K×16 bit non-volatile memory which retains data without backup battery. The program execution speed is 4 milliseconds per ladder logic element. The maximum expandable I/O points reach 64 digital points. It contains 56 data registers and 64 internal control coils. Six LED indicators on the front panel display power status, running state, communication data, forcing signal and rail fault. A 1A fuse and multiple communication ports are integrated on the panel. The operating temperature ranges from 0°C to 45°C. It supports DIN rail mounting and panel mounting, and the total weight is about 1.1 kilograms.

It connects to matching I/O modules such as 45C1 via the internal rack backplane. A dedicated programming port is reserved for connecting handheld programmers or 45C115 CRT programming terminals to upload, download and edit programs. Four additional ports are used for I/O expansion and system interconnection. It only supports ladder diagram programming language. All signal transmission relies on hardwired connections and proprietary internal bus.

It executes user-defined ladder logic programs to realize automatic discrete control. It scans, receives and outputs digital signals for all connected I/O points in real time. It provides on-site fault diagnosis and status indication through front panel LEDs. It establishes data interaction with programming terminals for program management and parameter setting. It keeps programs and operating data stable after power off with non-volatile memory design.

It is mainly applied to complete Reliance AutoMate 15 PLC control systems. It is widely used for controlling conveyors, pumps, valves and limit switches in small and medium-sized production lines. It serves as a standard replacement part for faulty CPU modules in old industrial workshops, paper mills and textile factories. It is commonly used together with 45C1 I/O rails to form a complete control unit.

Install the module firmly on the DIN rail or mounting panel, and ensure the backplane connector is fully engaged. Check power supply voltage and all connection terminals before powering on. Conduct regular quarterly inspections to check LED working status, cable tightness and surface cleanliness. Remove dust on the module surface to avoid poor heat dissipation. Cut off the power supply completely and wait for a period of time before disassembly or maintenance to prevent electric shock. Use only matched original accessories and modules for replacement and expansion.
