Description

Product Description

The 2GU41005 is a 5 HP (3.7 kW) three-phase AC variable frequency drive of Reliance Electric GP-2000 series. It features 460 VAC input and serves for general industrial motor speed regulation. It is widely applied to fans, pumps, conveyors and various standard industrial machines. This model has been discontinued, and refurbished units are adopted for maintenance and replacement of legacy equipment.

Model Number Interpretation

2 refers to the standard industrial drive series. GU represents the 460 VAC voltage platform of GP-2000 series. 41005 indicates 460 VAC input, 5 HP rated power and hardware revision 05.

Technical Specifications

Motor power is 5 HP (3.7 kW) with apparent power of 6.5 kVA. Input voltage is 460 VAC ±10%, three-phase, 50/60 Hz. Output voltage ranges from 0 to 460 VAC, three-phase. Output frequency ranges from 0 to 400 Hz. The continuous rated output current is 8.2 A. It adopts open-loop V/F control mode. Built-in protection functions include overcurrent, overvoltage, undervoltage, overtemperature, short-circuit and ground fault protection. It is designed with NEMA 1 enclosure. The operating temperature ranges from 0 °C to +45 °C. The dimensions are 394 × 203 × 248 mm in height, width and depth. The overall weight is approximately 9.9 kg.

Interface and Communication Configuration

It is fitted with power terminals for three-phase main power input, motor output and DC bus braking connection. The control terminals support ±10 V analog input for speed reference and 24 VDC digital I/O for start stop, fault reset and jog operations. It applies Reliance proprietary protocol without standard fieldbus communication ports. The onboard keypad and 7-segment display are used for parameter configuration and fault code inquiry. There is no encoder interface, and the drive only supports open-loop V/F control.

Core Functions

It delivers stable speed regulation for 5 HP three-phase AC motors via V/F control. It helps reduce energy consumption for variable-torque loads such as fans and pumps. It is compatible with external braking resistors to achieve rapid deceleration. Real-time status monitoring and fault code recording facilitate quick fault diagnosis. Users can set acceleration time, deceleration time, current limit and I/O parameters through the local panel.

Application Scenarios

It is suitable for conveyors, packaging machines and assembly lines in light manufacturing industries. It matches medium-sized fans, pumps and agitators used in HVAC and process industries. It can be installed on conveying and lifting equipment driven by 5 HP AC motors. It acts as a direct replacement for outdated GP-2000 series drives in legacy automation systems.

Usage and Maintenance Instructions

Mount the drive inside a well-ventilated cabinet and reserve no less than 50 mm clearance around it for heat dissipation. Use shielded cables for power and control wiring, and tighten all terminals properly. Check the input voltage before powering on. Turn on the control circuit first and then the main power, and set relevant parameters according to the motor nameplate. Inspect wiring connections every quarter and clean internal dust regularly. Cut off all power supply and wait 5 minutes for DC bus capacitors to fully discharge before conducting inspection and maintenance.
