JANCD-FC510

JANCD-FC510 (Yaskawa YASNAC I80 PLC Expansion Board) Brand: Yaskawa / Yasnac Model: JANCD-FC510 Type: PLC Memory & I/O Expansion Board for YASNAC I80 CNC Revision: A01 (common) Weight: ~0.4–0.5 kg

Description

1. General Description

The JANCD-FC510 is a companion expansion board for the JANCD-FC500 PLC core board in the YASNAC I80 CNC system. It extends PLC program memory, data memory, and enhances I/O processing capability for complex, high-axis (5–6 axis) machines and automated cells that exceed the base FC500 memory limits. It cannot operate standalone and requires FC500.

2. Basic Specifications

  • Applicable system: YASNAC I80 / I80M (requires FC500 PLC board)

  • Backplane: JANCD-FC001 (1 full slot, adjacent to FC500)

  • Board size: Full-length (≈267 × 140 mm, matches FC500/FC4xx)

  • Power supply: DC 24V ±10%, approx. 0.8 A (low power)

  • Operating temperature: 0 to +45°C

  • Storage temperature: −20 to +60°C

3. Core Expansion Functions (vs. Base FC500)

A. Memory Expansion (Key Upgrade)

Memory TypeFC500 (Base)FC500 + FC510 (Expanded)
PLC Load Memory8 MB32 MB (4× expansion)
PLC Work Memory8 MB32 MB (4× expansion)
Retentive Bit Memory16 KB64 KB (4× expansion)
Max Ladder Logic Program Size64 KB/block256 KB/block

B. I/O Processing Enhancement

  • Increases I/O scan speed from ≤0.8 ms to ≤0.2 ms (critical for high-speed safety interlocks)

  • Supports additional 128 I/O points (total system I/O up to 448 points with FC440)

  • Reduces PLC-CNC communication latency by 30% (for 5–6 axis motion synchronization)

C. Communication Interfaces

  • CN51: Expansion bus (dedicated link to FC500, high-speed data exchange)

  • CN21: Auxiliary I/O bus (for high-speed I/O boards like FC430/FC440)

  • LEDs: Power, expansion bus status, memory access, fault indicators

4. System Compatibility & Combinations

Mandatory Pairing

  • PLC core board: JANCD-FC500 (FC510 is an expansion, not a replacement)

  • CPU board: JANCD-FC250 (standard) or FC251 (high-grade)

  • Backplane: JANCD-FC001 (2 full slots: 1 for FC500, 1 for FC510)

Recommended Configurations

  1. Standard expanded setup: FC250 + FC500 + FC510 + FC400 (32IN/32OUT)

  2. High-density expanded setup: FC251 + FC500 + FC510 + FC430 (128IN/128OUT)

  3. Max I/O expanded setup: FC251 + FC500 + FC510 + FC440 (160IN/160OUT)

Limitations

  • 1 board per I80 system maximum (only one expansion slot for FC510)

  • Cannot replace FC500 – FC510 is strictly an expansion

  • Occupies 1 full slot on FC001 (must reserve adjacent slot to FC500)

6. Common Faults & Alarms

  • A.510 Expansion bus error: CN51 loose, FC500 communication failure, bus chip fault

  • Memory mismatch: FC510 not detected by FC500, incompatible firmware revision

  • I/O scan timeout: Excessive I/O points without FC510, FC4xx board overload

  • All LEDs off: 24V supply missing, internal fuse blown, backplane contact issue

  • Retentive data loss: Faulty FC510 memory chip, insufficient backup power

7. Applications

  • 5-axis/6-axis high-complexity machining centers (large ladder logic programs, 100+ I/O points)

  • Multi-station transfer lines (high-speed synchronized I/O, large data logging requirements)

  • Fully automated production cells (machine + robotics + inspection + material handling integration)

  • Legacy I80 system upgrades (memory expansion without full CNC replacement for large machines)

  • High-end multi-spindle turn-mill centers (complex sequence control for dual spindles/B/C axes)
