JANCD-FC440 (Yaskawa YASNAC I80 Max-Density I/O Board) Brand: Yaskawa / Yasnac Model: JANCD-FC440 Type: Max‑Density Digital I/O Board for YASNAC I80 CNC Revision: Final A01

Description

1. General Description

The JANCD‑FC440 is the highest‑capacity digital I/O board in the YASNAC I80 series, engineered for large‑scale, fully automated 5‑axis/6‑axis machine tools and high‑density production lines. It delivers the maximum I/O count possible for the I80 platform, serving as the ultimate upgrade over FC400/FC410/FC420/FC430.

2. Basic Specifications

  • Applicable system: YASNAC I80 / I80M (requires FC251 CPU board exclusively)

  • Backplane: JANCD‑FC001 (1 full slot)

  • Board size: Full‑length (≈267 × 140 mm)

  • Power supply: DC 24V ±10%, approx. 2.0 A

  • Operating temperature: 0 to +45°C

  • Storage temperature: −20 to +60°C

3. I/O Configuration (Max‑Density)

Inputs (IN): 160 points

  • Signal level: DC 24V, sink/source selectable (NPN/PNP compatible)

  • Usage: Limit switches, proximity sensors, E‑stop, safety doors, tool sensors, clamps, pallets, fixture sensors

  • Response time: ≤0.8 ms (high‑speed sampling)

Outputs (OUT): 160 points (transistor)

  • Voltage: DC 24V, max 0.5 A per point

  • Usage: Solenoids, relays, valve banks, indicators, alarms, cylinders, motor start signals

  • Protection: Self‑resetting fuse per point, overload/short‑circuit protection, surge suppression

Connectors

  • CN44: I/O terminal block (160IN / 160OUT, screw terminals, 4 rows)

  • CN20: System bus (high‑speed link to FC251)

  • LEDs: Power, bus status, IN/OUT channel status, fault diagnostics

5. System Compatibility & Combinations

Mandatory pairing

  • CPU board: JANCD‑FC251 (high‑grade) (FC250 not supported)

  • Backplane: JANCD‑FC001

Recommended configurations

  • Max‑density setup: FC251 + 1×FC440 (320 I/O total, I80 maximum)

  • Mixed high‑density setup: FC251 + FC440 + FC400 (384 I/O total)

  • Axis boards: FC260 (8‑axis feed), FC310 (spindle)

Limitations

  • Cannot be used standalone (depends on FC251 for power and bus)

  • Occupies 1 full slot on FC001 backplane

  • I80 system limit: 1×FC440 maximum (full bus bandwidth utilization)

6. Common Faults & Alarms

  • A.440 Bus error: CN20 loose, backplane contact failure, bus chip overload

  • No input signals: CN44 wiring loose, 24V supply fault, input channel burnout

  • Outputs not activating: Overload/short circuit, load fault, wiring error, surge damage

  • All LEDs off: Backplane 24V missing, internal main fuse blown

  • Partial channel failure: Terminal block oxidation, bent pins, internal trace damage

7. Applications

  • Large 6‑axis machining centers (max I/O for clamps, pallets, tools, safety interlocks)

  • Multi‑station transfer lines (high sensor/actuator count for synchronized motion)

  • Fully automated production cells (machine + material handling + inspection + robotics)

  • High‑end multi‑spindle turn‑mill centers (dual spindle + multiple turrets + B/C axes)

  • Legacy system upgrades (max I/O expansion without full CNC replacement for large machines)
