Three-stage symmetrical low-pass differential filtering, precisely calibrated to retain full HART carrier amplitude with zero attenuation
Composite high-energy bidirectional TVS stack suppresses positive/negative transient high voltage on every isolated output loop
Reinforced galvanic isolation barrier eliminates measurement drift and HART dropouts triggered by ground potential differences between separate grounding grids
Low-ESR ultra-stable precision coupling capacitors maintain full HART signal swing without DC drive power loss
Oversized high-power flyback diodes fully absorb severe back-EMF spikes generated by heavy inductive actuator loads
Calibrated ultra-low-tolerance damping resistors suppress valve hunting and deliver uniform actuator pull-in current & linear stroke performance
Extra-thick isolation partitions fully block inter-channel analog bleed and HART signal interference
Redundancy Support: Fully compatible with primary/standby redundant isolated HART AO IOP; hot-swap FTA replacement allowed without process shutdown
Approximate Unit Weight: 0.361 kg
4. Interface & Communication Configuration
Inner IOP Connection: Locking heavy-duty flat ribbon cable directly mates to isolated HART AO IOP pin headers. Reinforced multi-point cable strain relief prevents pin header deformation or fracture under sustained tension of long multi-core field control wiring harnesses.
Field Outer Terminals: Independent isolated Ch+ / Loop– terminals for each two-wire HART actuator loop; field drive circuit is fully galvanically separated from DCS control ground potential.
Communication Mechanism: 4–20mA DC analog drive overlaid with FSK HART digital signals via frequency division. The FTA acts solely as passive coupling and filtering hardware with no alteration to HART protocol timing or frame structure.
External HART Access: No dedicated auxiliary communication port; handheld HART communicator clamps directly across Ch+ and Loop– field terminals for commissioning, calibration and diagnostic data reading.
5. Core Functions
Full per-channel galvanic isolation: Eliminates circulating ground loop currents at multi-ground plant sites, fixing unstable valve stroke, position drift and frequent HART poll timeouts.
Three-stage symmetrical heavy EMI noise rejection: Suppresses intense electromagnetic interference from large VFD systems, MCCs and medium-voltage switchgear to eliminate valve hunting, setpoint drift and repeated HART retries while preserving full HART communication bandwidth.
High-energy surge & short-circuit fault protection: Withstands lightning-induced line transients, equipment startup surges and field short-circuit high voltage to protect sensitive costly IOP output drive semiconductors.
Heavy-duty inductive kickback suppression: Rapidly dissipates high back-EMF energy from large-coil solenoids and heavy positioners to extend service life of IOP cards and field actuators.
Stable low-distortion HART coupling: Precision low-ESR capacitor arrays sustain reliable HART handshaking, parameter read/write and diagnostic upload over long high-capacitance field instrument cables.
Uniform output linear consistency: Ultra-precision damping resistors deliver matched drive impedance and linear characteristics across all 16 channels to reduce bulk calibration workload.
Multi-load backward compatibility: Supports mixed installation of HART smart actuators and conventional non-HART 4–20mA loads within the same cabinet without performance degradation.
Redundant hot-swappable maintenance: Seamlessly follows primary/standby IOP switching logic; single-channel disconnection and troubleshooting do not impact operation of remaining 15 control loops.
6. Application Scenarios
Applicable Industries
Petrochemical complexes, heavy chemical synthesis plants, combined heat & power generation stations, large oil & gas refineries, pulp & paper mills, high-humidity industrial wastewater treatment, medium-to-high humidity pharmaceutical batch manufacturing lines
Typical Control Loops
Emergency safety shutoff HART smart valve positioners
High-pressure heavy-duty throttle modulating HART actuators
Large furnace draft air damper HART I/P transducers
Process blending control valve smart HART positioners
Pressure reduction modulating HART actuators
Ideal for multi-ground plant layouts, VFD-dense process areas, cabinets with persistent high humidity and heavy dust accumulation, and atmospheres containing moderate acidic/alkaline volatile vapors. Not suitable for offshore platforms or coastal sites with continuous salt fog exposure; upgrade to -325/-375 ultra-heavy-duty grades for those extreme environments.
7. Wiring Standards
Two-wire actuator wiring: Actuator positive → isolated FTA Ch+, actuator negative → isolated Loop–; reversed polarity reduces kickback protection efficiency and slightly impairs HART waveform integrity.
HART communicator wiring: Clamp test leads directly across isolated Ch+ / Loop– terminals at the FTA or valve positioner; no external load resistor required for standard two-wire isolated HART AO loops.
Cable specification: Shielded twisted-pair instrument cable for all field wiring runs; cable shield grounded solely at DCS cabinet FTA side with field equipment end ungrounded to fully suppress ground loop noise.
Power cable segregation: Physically separate HART analog instrument cables from high-voltage AC power, MCC and VFD output wiring to minimize capacitive and inductive EMI coupling interference.
8. Incompatible Hardware
Non-isolated HART AO (51304638), isolated non-HART AO (51304640), isolated HART AI (51304644), all non-HART AI FTA modules, discrete DI/DO termination boards, TC/RTD temperature FTAs, pulse counter termination blocks and serial communication terminal assemblies cannot be paired with this isolated HART AO IOP card.
