Carry out protocol conversion between S500 internal rack bus and external Profibus-DP fieldbus. Collect all input channel data of local S500 rack and upload data to upper Profibus master controller, meanwhile distribute control commands from master down to corresponding output modules inside the I/O rack. Continuously monitor external bus connection status and feed back bus break or short-circuit fault information to AC31 main CPU for system alarm.

Operation and Maintenance Instructions
Disconnect full cabinet AC and DC power supply and wait at least 10 minutes for residual charge release before module removal or field bus wiring modification. Complete semi-annual maintenance by cleaning dust on module and terminal area with dry low-pressure compressed air and retighten all wiring fixing screws regularly. When Profibus communication fails without upper master breakdown, check external bus wiring and terminal resistor setting first before module replacement. Prevent overvoltage surge accessing bus terminals to avoid internal communication chip damage.
