Description

Product Introduction

61C-500 is a 16-point isolated AC digital input rail module of Reliance AutoMate 61C distributed I/O series, specially designed for AutoMate 15E,20,20E PLC control system. It collects on-site on-off status signals from limit switches, proximity sensors and relay auxiliary contacts. Original production has been terminated by manufacturer. Available products in market consist of unused original surplus stock and fully tested refurbished modules for maintenance replacement of legacy automation equipment in papermaking, metallurgy and chemical industries.

Model Definition

61C is the unified series code for Reliance remote rail mounted I/O product family. Numerical code 500 represents fixed specification of 16-channel 115VAC grouped isolated digital input and split terminal structure. This model differs from 61C-501 mainly on input trigger threshold and internal signal filtering parameters while keeping identical rail installation dimension.

Technical Specifications

Rated field input voltage is 115VAC at 50/60Hz with maximum withstand voltage of 132V RMS. Turn-on threshold is no less than 92V RMS and turn-off threshold is no higher than 22V RMS. Input response delay reaches maximum 35ms under 50Hz and 26ms under 60Hz. Internal working power is supplied through backplane bus without extra external auxiliary power requirement. Every four channels form one independent isolation group with four groups in total, and dielectric isolation voltage between field circuit and control circuit hits 2500V. Continuous operating ambient temperature ranges from -20℃ to +55℃, storage temperature spans from -40℃ to +85℃, and working relative humidity is 5%~95% under non-condensing environment. Overall dimension follows standard 61C series module size and complies with UL and CE industrial safety standards.

Interface and Communication Configuration

Rear proprietary rail bus connector connects with AutoMate local head or remote backplane via dedicated cable to realize data exchange with main CPU based on exclusive manufacturer bus protocol. Front side is equipped with detachable screw terminal block including sixteen signal input terminals and four group common terminals. Sixteen independent channel LED indicators and one power status indicator are arranged on front panel to display channel signal status and module operating condition. No onboard RS485 or Modbus universal external communication port is equipped by default.

Core Functions

Receive 115VAC switching signals from field devices and convert analog AC signals into internal logic digital signals via optocoupler isolation. Transmit collected channel status data cyclically to upper AutoMate PLC through backplane bus. Each corresponding LED lamp lights up once valid input signal is detected on related channel. Four-group isolated circuit effectively restrains industrial surge and ground loop interference to avoid damage of main control system. The module supports mixed installation with other 61C series digital and analog modules on the same field rail for flexible field control point layout.

Application Scenarios

It is widely used for field feedback signal collection of papermaking machine limit switches, metallurgical furnace door position detection, chemical pump running auxiliary contact monitoring, textile machinery travel switch pickup and interlock signal acquisition of outdated printing equipment. This module fits decentralized remote I/O arrangement where field signal points are scattered far away from central control cabinet.

Operation and Maintenance Instructions

Cut off total system power supply and wait more than 15 minutes for complete residual charge release of internal capacitors before module replacement or terminal wiring modification. Conduct semi-annual routine maintenance to tighten front terminal screws, remove internal accumulated dust with dry low-pressure compressed air and check terminal pin oxidation. When abnormal indicator status occurs, inspect external field input voltage and peripheral switch faults first. Replace the whole 61C-500 module only after all external circuit defects are eliminated. Avoid long-term overvoltage input exceeding 132V RMS to prevent burnout of internal optocoupler components.
