RELIANCE 61C22A local I/O head master card
61C22A serves as the local I/O head master card for Reliance AutoMax distributed I/O control system. It works as an essential bus gateway between main rack CPU and field remote I/O subrails, equipped with built-in auxiliary power supply to feed power for up to four external I/O installation rails. This module gathers digital input and output signals from all distributed field I/O modules and transmits collected data to main controller through rack backplane bus. Original manufacturing has been stopped, and available commodities in market consist of surplus original unused stock and fully inspected refurbished modules for maintenance replacement of aging control cabinets in papermaking, metallurgy and textile industries.

Product Introduction
Model Definition
61C is the unified series code for Reliance AutoMax remote I/O head module product family. Numeral 22 stands for the specification supporting four sets of external expansion I/O rails. Suffix A indicates optimized revised edition with improved internal power circuit and anti-interference PCB layout, which keeps full mechanical and electrical interchangeability with standard 61C22 base model without cabinet or wiring alteration during replacement.
Technical Specifications
Rated input power range is 115VAC or 230VAC at 50/60Hz with maximum input current of 2A. Internal power circuit provides stable working power for four independent field I/O rails, matching power demand of standard 61 series plug-in I/O modules. One built-in replaceable 4A 250VAC fuse is configured for overall overcurrent protection. Continuous working ambient temperature ranges from -20℃ to +60℃, storage temperature covers -40℃ to +85℃, and applicable working relative humidity is 5%~95% under non-condensing environment. The module follows single-width standard AutoMax rack plug-in dimension and has passed factory high voltage insulation withstand test.
Interface and Communication Configuration
Five groups of dedicated 12-pin terminal connectors are arranged on front panel, including RAIL0, RAIL1, RAIL2 and RAIL3 ports for four external field I/O rail wiring and one spare reserved input port. Rear side adopts golden finger connector to plug into AutoMax main control rack slot to realize data exchange with system CPU via proprietary AutoMax backplane bus protocol. No independent onboard Modbus or RS485 external communication interface is equipped. Multiple LED indicator lamps on front panel display power status, system communication state and respective fault alarm information of four I/O rails.
Core Functions
It converts input alternating current into stable direct current power to supply four sets of external field I/O rails. The module completes protocol conversion between field rail bus and main rack backplane bus, cyclically collects all DI and DO status data from distributed I/O modules and uploads data to master CPU, meanwhile distributes control commands from main controller down to each field I/O unit. It monitors real-time operating condition of every I/O rail, triggers corresponding fault indicator and feeds abnormal alarm signal to upper controller once short circuit, overload or communication interruption happens on any rail. Integrated surge suppression and fault isolation circuit prevents field-side abnormal failure from spreading into main control rack and damaging core CPU components.
Application Scenarios
This master module is specially configured for decentralized layout of Reliance AutoMax PLC control system, enabling field I/O rails to be installed separately away from central control cabinet. It is widely used for field signal collection of auxiliary interlock switches on papermaking machines, limit signal detection of metallurgical conveying equipment, distributed I/O data acquisition of textile production lines, as well as spare replacement and system upgrading of legacy printing and packaging machinery control cabinets.
Operation and Maintenance Instructions
Cut off total AC power of main control rack and wait no less than 20 minutes for full discharge of internal capacitor residual charge before plugging in or pulling out the module. Implement quarterly regular maintenance to check front terminal pins for oxidation and loose wiring, and remove accumulated dust inside module with dry compressed air. Avoid long-term overloaded operation with four fully loaded I/O rails exceeding rated power capacity. In case of single rail fault, inspect external rail wiring and matched field I/O modules first, and replace the whole 61C22A module only after all peripheral abnormal troubles are ruled out.
