Product Introduction
57C-442 is a DH+ fieldbus communication gateway module belonging to Reliance AutoMax distributed control system. It serves as a dedicated protocol conversion unit between AutoMax proprietary backplane bus and Allen-Bradley Data Highway Plus bus, achieving real-time data interconnection between local AutoMax CPU modules and external AB PLC and DH+ network field devices. The product uses standard plug-in layout matching AutoMax rack slots, and multiple modules can be mounted within one rack to expand multi-channel DH+ networking capacity. Original production has been discontinued, and current market supply mainly comes from spare replacement stock for legacy automation upgrade projects.
Model Definition
57C is the unified series identifier for all AutoMax plug-in functional modules of Reliance brand. 442 is the unique part code designated for DH+ communication interface card. Any trailing letter such as A or B represents hardware revised version with optimized PCB routing, upgraded surge protection circuit and strengthened anti-electromagnetic interference performance compared with base standard unit.
Technical Specifications
The module draws standard 5VDC working power from rack backplane, with permissible input voltage ranging from 4.75VDC to 5.25VDC and typical operating current about 650mA. An onboard 8MHz processing chip and 32KB dual-port memory are configured to cache cross-protocol transmission data. DH+ bus runs at fixed 57.6Kbps baud rate and supports maximum 32 network nodes on single trunk cable. Operating ambient temperature ranges from 0 degree Celsius to 55 degree Celsius, storage temperature covers minus 25 degree Celsius to 70 degree Celsius, and applicable relative humidity is 5 percent to 95 percent without condensation. Built-in watchdog and hardware self-test circuit monitor real-time working status, while complete EMC filter design effectively restrains interference from on-site high-power motors and frequency converters.
Interface and Communication Configuration
Rear gold finger connector links AutoMax dedicated internal bus to exchange real-time operational data with rack main processors and installed I/O modules. Front panel is equipped with dedicated terminal block for shielded twisted-pair DH+ wiring, together with running status LED and digital fault code display window. The module natively supports standard AB DH+ peer-to-peer communication protocol and automatically completes address mapping between AutoMax internal register space and AB PLC data file addresses to realize transparent cross-platform data reading and writing.
Core Functions
It implements bidirectional protocol conversion between AutoMax private backplane bus and DH+ fieldbus. It uploads field collected signals and equipment operating parameters from AutoMax control system onto DH+ network, and translates downlink remote control commands issued by external AB PLC into identifiable bus signals for AutoMax main processor to execute. It supports data sharing and interlock signal transmission among all network nodes on DH+ bus. It continuously detects bus operating status, marks internal fault flag and preserves cached data once cable open circuit, short circuit or equipment offline occurs so as to prevent accidental data loss. Remote online parameter modification and program debugging of AutoMax controller can be realized through upper monitoring workstation connected on DH+ bus.
Application Scenarios
This module is widely used for network renovation of old AutoMax control cabinets on metallurgical rolling lines, bulk material conveying equipment and chemical auxiliary process control cabinets to connect Reliance control units with existing Rockwell DH+ network. It is commonly adopted for centralized control upgrading of pump and fan groups in water treatment facilities, as well as automation reform of traditional textile machines, printing equipment and industrial furnace control cabinets to access factory DH+ distributed monitoring system.
Operation and Maintenance Instructions
Disconnect full rack power supply before installation, check circuit board for bent pins, detached components or surface corrosion, insert the module into specified empty slot and lock front fixing buckle tightly to avoid poor contact caused by long-term equipment vibration. Complete DH+ station address setup after installation and run short-term no-load communication test with external AB PLC to verify stable data transmission before formal system commissioning. Carry out periodic maintenance under power-off condition, clear accumulated dust on module surface and wiring terminals with dry compressed air. Hot plugging under powered rack status is strictly forbidden to avoid backplane short-circuit damage. When persistent abnormal indicator flicker or frequent bus disconnection appears, cut off equipment power and send the module for professional circuit inspection, unauthorized disassembly of original sealed circuit is prohibited.
