Product Introduction
57C441 is a dedicated Modbus Plus communication interface module under Reliance AutoMax DCS control system, specially designed to realize protocol conversion between AutoMax private backplane bus and Modbus Plus industrial fieldbus network. It adopts standard plug-in board structure matching AutoMax universal rack backplane, supporting data interconnection between local AutoMax controller and Modicon Modbus Plus network devices including Modicon 984 series PLC. One single module can establish data interaction with up to four independent CPU processors installed inside the same control rack, and multiple modules can be configured in one rack to expand multi-channel Modbus Plus networking capacity. This product has been discontinued by original manufacturer and exists mainly as spare refurbished industrial accessories at present.
Model Definition
57C stands for general series prefix of Reliance AutoMax plug-in functional modules; 441 is fixed part number defined exclusively for Modbus Plus gateway interface card of AutoMax platform. No standard fixed suffix for base 57C441 model, revised versions marked with A/B/C suffix represent iterative hardware upgrades for circuit optimization and anti-interference enhancement.
Technical Specifications
The module is powered by rack backplane 5VDC power supply, operating voltage tolerance range 4.75VDC to 5.25VDC. Modbus Plus bus communication baud rate is fixed at 1Mbaud, maximum access capacity of 32 network nodes on one bus trunk line. Working ambient temperature ranges from 0°C to 55°C, storage temperature from -25°C to 70°C, applicable humidity 5% to 95% without condensation. Built-in isolated bus drive circuit and EMC filtering component to suppress field interference generated by inverter and large-power motor equipment, with onboard hardware fault detection circuit for real-time running state monitoring.
Interface and Communication Configuration
Backplane gold finger connector connects AutoMax internal Multibus backplane to complete real-time data exchange with rack CPU and I/O modules. Front panel is equipped with dedicated Modbus Plus terminal interface for shielded twisted-pair bus wiring access, matched with status indicator lamp to display module power supply and bus link state. Core supported communication protocol is Modbus Plus peer-to-peer fieldbus protocol, realizing transparent data mapping between AutoMax internal register address and Modbus Plus network node address, compatible with all standard Modbus Plus terminal devices on the market.
Core Functions
It completes bidirectional protocol conversion between AutoMax proprietary bus and Modbus Plus bus, uploading operational parameters and field acquisition data of AutoMax control system to Modbus Plus network and converting downlink control instructions from external Modicon PLC into identifiable bus signals for AutoMax processors to execute. It supports peer-to-peer data transmission among all 32 nodes on Modbus Plus bus, finishing cross-equipment interlock signal delivery and parameter sharing automatically. It carries out real-time bus fault diagnosis, automatically marks communication abnormal flag and locks cache data when bus short circuit, open circuit or node offline happens to avoid system data loss. It enables remote online program debugging and parameter modification of AutoMax main controller via Modbus Plus upper monitoring station.
Application Scenarios
Mainly used for networking transformation of legacy Reliance AutoMax control cabinets in metallurgical rolling production lines, bulk solid material conveying control systems and large chemical auxiliary workshop DCS projects. Widely applied in pump and fan group centralized control cabinet reconstruction of water treatment industry to connect local AutoMax control units with Modicon upper monitoring PLC via Modbus Plus bus. Also used for automation upgrading of old printing machinery, textile spinning equipment and industrial oven control system to access factory Modbus Plus distributed control network.
Operation and Maintenance Instructions
Cut off total rack power before installation, check circuit board for pin deformation, component shedding and corrosion damage, insert module into vacant backplane slot and lock front panel buckle tightly against vibration loose contact. Complete node address allocation and bus parameter configuration after power-on, perform short-time no-load bus communication test to verify stable data interaction with external Modbus Plus equipment before formal system operation. Regular maintenance needs to be implemented under power-off state, clear accumulated dust on module surface and wiring terminal with dry compressed air. Hot plugging operation is strictly forbidden under live rack condition to prevent backplane short-circuit burnout. When front indicator keeps abnormal flashing or continuous bus offline occurs frequently, cut off equipment power and deliver module to professional maintenance institution for circuit inspection, disassembly of original sealed circuit is prohibited without professional qualification.
