SGMG-05V2RCS

SGMG-05V2RCS belongs to Yaskawa Sigma-I medium inertia AC servo motor, rated power 450W, AC200V voltage class, matching dedicated servo drive SGDB-05AD / SGDB-05ANA. Model code breakdown: V stands for special specification with shaft oil seal and enhanced dustproof construction; R means smooth straight shaft without parallel key; CS represents 17-bit serial absolute value encoder with built-in oil seal structure, no built-in electromagnetic holding brake, original Japan manufacture.

Description

Core Electrical and Mechanical Specifications

The motor receives three-phase AC200V power output from matched SGDB servo amplifier. Rated continuous operating current is 3.8A, rated rotational speed 1500rpm, continuous rated torque 2.87N·m, instantaneous peak torque reaches three times rated torque up to 8.61N·m. Equipped with CS-type serial absolute encoder supporting position retention after power failure, insulation grade F, totally enclosed natural cooling structure, IP65 protection level for whole body including shaft section thanks to V-type shaft oil seal design. Standard working ambient temperature ranges from 0℃ to 40℃; continuous full-load operation over 40℃ needs proper load derating. Working relative humidity is controlled between 20%~80% without dew formation. Full-load operation is permitted under installation altitude below 1000 meters; load capacity must be reduced when installed over 1000m height. It passes 1 minute AC1500V dielectric withstand test, insulation resistance exceeds 10MΩ under DC500V insulation resistance test.

Safety Warning Statements

WARNING

Cut off all input main power entirely before wiring, installation, disassembly or maintenance operation to avoid electric shock accident and internal winding burnout. Never directly connect commercial AC mains to motor U/V/W three power terminals; wrong direct mains access will immediately burn stator winding permanently.

CAUTION

Only pair with original SGDB series Σ-I dedicated servo driver; mismatching with SGDM, SGDH or other series servo units will trigger continuous encoder fault and overcurrent alarm and cannot start normally. Do not install the motor in environment with flammable gas, corrosive steam, heavy dust or frequent liquid splashing; the V-type oil seal improves splash resistance but cannot sustain long-term continuous liquid immersion. Long-time overloaded running beyond rated torque is forbidden to prevent winding overheat and insulation aging damage. Fix the motor away from persistent strong vibration and long-time direct sunlight exposure, reserve enough surrounding space for smooth heat dissipation airflow.

Wiring Specification

Motor three power terminals U, V, W connect separately to corresponding main circuit output terminals of SGDB-05AD driver; PE protective ground terminal must be reliably connected to equipment protective earth wire for safety grounding protection. CS absolute encoder cable plug inserts into driver CN2 encoder socket, exclusive shielded dedicated cable must be used and maximum allowable wiring length is within 20 meters. Improper pin definition or loose connector will lead to driver encoder error alarm and servo ready signal cannot activate. Different from incremental encoder models, absolute encoder needs backup battery wiring on driver side for position memory after power cut.

Installation Guidance

Adopt standard flange mounting method for motor fixation. This model is R-type smooth non-key straight shaft; when assembling coupling with mechanical load shaft, strictly control coaxial tolerance within 0.1mm to avoid excessive radial pulling force and axial thrust damaging internal bearing and precision absolute encoder components. The V built-in shaft oil seal needs no extra accessory during coupling assembly, avoid damaging the lip of oil seal during shaft installation to prevent oil leakage and dust intrusion afterwards. Fasten all mounting bolts with specified tightening torque to prevent bolt loosening during high-speed reciprocating operation.

Commissioning Operation Steps

Double check correctness of power wiring and absolute encoder wiring before switching driver power supply on. After power-on, set corresponding motor parameter codes inside SGDB driver according to SGMG-05V2RCS 450W specification and CS serial absolute encoder mode, modify encoder type parameter from incremental to absolute value setting. Complete automatic motor parameter identification and system inertia auto-tuning function of servo driver. Switch servo to JOG jog mode to perform forward and reverse trial rotation, inspect no abnormal mechanical noise, vibration or jitter during low-speed running. Confirm zero fault alarm in full trial run then switch machine to formal automatic operation mode.

Common Troubleshooting

OV overvoltage alarm mostly arises from abnormal input power fluctuation or excessive regenerative feedback energy; measure input AC supply voltage and install external regeneration resistor if required. OC overcurrent alarm appears when U/V/W wiring short-circuit or internal motor winding short damage exists; check cable insulation integrity and coil continuity. Encoder fault alarm mainly results from loose encoder plug, broken inner core of connecting cable or absolute encoder circuit failure; replace damaged cable or repair connector accordingly, check driver backup battery voltage when absolute position loss occurs after power off. OT overheat alarm is caused by poor ventilation or long-term overload running; optimize surrounding heat dissipation environment and reduce continuous actual load torque. Abnormal grease leakage at shaft end is usually caused by damaged V-type shaft oil seal; replace original oil seal part to fix leakage issue.
