Description

Product Introduction

SGMG-03A2A-MN21 belongs to Yaskawa classic SGMG Σ series medium inertia AC servo motor, made in Japan, rated power 300W, matched servo driver model is SGDB-03AD or SGDB-03ANA 200V grade driver. This model is fitted with multi-turn absolute encoder with battery backup defined by suffix MN21, standard taper shaft with parallel key structure and no built-in electromagnetic brake.

Basic Technical Specifications

Rated working voltage is AC200V three-phase input from servo drive output, rated continuous working current is 2.6A, rated rotation speed is 1500rpm and continuous rated torque reaches 1.96N·m, the instantaneous peak torque can reach three times of rated torque around 5.88N·m. Insulation grade is Class F, overall structure is totally enclosed self-cooled design with IP67 protection grade except shaft penetration area. Standard working ambient temperature ranges from 0℃ to 40℃, intermittent derated operation is allowed within 40℃ to 60℃; permissible ambient humidity keeps below 80% relative humidity without dew condensation, storage condition follows same humidity requirement. The motor can run normally below altitude of 1000 meters above sea level without power derating, altitude higher than 1000m needs corresponding load reduction setting. It passes AC1500V one-minute withstand voltage test and insulation resistance exceeds 10MΩ under 500VDC testing condition.

Safety Precautions

WARNING

Cut off all input power supply completely before wiring, installation, disassembly or maintenance work to avoid electric shock accident and winding burnout damage. Never connect commercial AC power directly onto motor U/V/W winding terminals, wrong direct power connection will instantly burn internal coil.

CAUTION

Only pair with original Σ series SGDB dedicated driver, random matching with other series servo drives such as SGDM or SGDH is prohibited and will trigger persistent abnormal alarm. Do not install the motor in environment with flammable gas, corrosive vapor, heavy dust or continuous liquid splashing. Long-time continuous operation under full overload exceeding rated torque is forbidden to prevent winding overheat aging and permanent damage. Mounting location should avoid intense continuous vibration and direct long-term sunlight exposure, ensure surrounding air circulation smoothly for heat dissipation.

Wiring Instruction

Three power terminals marked U, V and W connect separately to corresponding main circuit output terminals of matched SGDB servo drive; PE grounding terminal must connect reliably to equipment protective earth for safety grounding protection. The motor is equipped with absolute multi-turn encoder, encoder cable plug inserts into driver CN2 encoder socket, dedicated shielded encoder wire is mandatory and maximum allowed wiring length is within 20 meters. Improper encoder pin assignment or loose plug will cause driver encoder fault alarm immediately and servo cannot enter ready status.

Installation Guide

The motor adopts standard flange mounting installation mode, when assembling coupling between motor output taper shaft and load shaft, control coaxial error within 0.1mm to avoid excessive radial pulling force and axial thrust acting on motor shaft, over limit external force will damage built-in bearing and encoder core components. Tighten all mounting fixing bolts with specified torque value to prevent bolt loosening under high-speed reciprocating operation condition.

Commissioning Steps

Double check correctness of power wiring and encoder wiring before switching on driver power supply. After power on, set corresponding motor parameter code inside driver according to SGMG-03A2A specification and select absolute encoder control mode matching MN21 configuration. Complete driver automatic motor parameter identification and inertia auto-tuning program. Switch servo into JOG jog operation mode to execute forward and backward trial rotation, inspect no abnormal mechanical noise, shake or jitter during low-speed operation. Start formal automatic running after no fault alarm occurs in whole trial process.

Common Troubleshooting

Overvoltage alarm (OV) is caused by abnormal input power fluctuation or regenerative energy excess, measure input AC supply voltage to solve relevant problem. Overcurrent alarm (OC) appears when U/V/W wiring short-circuit or internal motor winding short damage happens, check wire insulation and coil continuity. Encoder error alarm relates to loose encoder plug, broken core inside cable or absolute encoder backup battery depletion, replace battery or repair connecting line accordingly. Motor overheat alarm results from poor heat dissipation or long-term overloaded running, optimize surrounding ventilation and reduce continuous load torque.
