SGM-01A3SU21

SGM-01A3SU21 is a 100W AC rotary servo motor from Yaskawa original Sigma first-generation series, designed to match 200V-class servo drivers such as SGDA and SGDS series servo packs. SGM stands for standard rotary servo motor series; digit 01 represents rated power 100W; letter A means 200V three-phase voltage grade; digit 3 refers to 2000PPR incremental encoder with line driver output; S indicates rear outgoing cable with plug connector; U means motor shaft equipped with standard keyway and circlip without shaft oil seal; 21 stands for factory customized specification on connector and internal configuration.

Description

Chapter 1 Safety Precautions

All safety notes shall be followed before unpacking, installation and wiring. Warning items mark operations that may cause personal injury or equipment damage; caution items refer to improper operation leading to motor burnout or abnormal running. Do not connect power before finishing full wiring inspection, avoid power input under short-circuit condition of motor winding or encoder line. Keep installation environment away from flammable gas, splash water and conductive dust. Disconnect input power completely before maintenance work to prevent accidental electric shock.

Chapter 2 Model Code Definition

SGM stands for standard rotary AC servo motor belonging to original Sigma first generation series from Yaskawa Electric. The digit 01 means rated output power 100W; letter A indicates rated working voltage is three-phase AC200V specification; digit 3 represents incremental encoder with 2000 pulses per revolution and line driver differential output for A/B/Z phase signals; letter S means motor power cable and encoder cable lead out from rear end with detachable plug-in connectors instead of fixed flying leads; letter U refers to output shaft equipped with standard keyway and circlip without shaft oil seal; suffix 21 is factory customized specification on connector pin definition and wiring layout, no brake fitted on this model.

Chapter 3 Electrical Specification Parameters

Rated continuous output power is 100W under rated working condition, matching three-phase AC200V input from corresponding SERVOPACK driver. Rated operating current is 0.87A RMS, continuous rated torque reaches 0.318N·m, short-time peak overload torque is 0.96N·m which equals three times rated torque and only allows intermittent operation within specified overload duration. Rated rotation speed is 3000rpm, maximum permissible no-load rotating speed is limited at 4500rpm. Built-in incremental encoder outputs 2000PPR pulse signal via differential line driver, standard six-core shielded cable for encoder connection. Rotor inertia value is 0.04×10⁻⁴kg·m², net motor weight is around 0.5 kilogram, no built-in electromagnetic holding brake inside stator structure.

Chapter 4 Mechanical Structure & Mounting Instruction

The motor adopts standard square flange mounting type with overall flange dimension 60mm by 60mm. Output shaft nominal diameter is 8mm, with standard flat key slot and retaining ring for load connection. Protection grade for motor main body is IP64 with fully closed shell design and natural air cooling without external cooling fan. All cables are rear outlet plug connection type, power connector and encoder connector are separated two independent plugs for convenient disassembly and replacement. When installing motor onto equipment base, ensure mounting surface flatness to avoid forced deformation of motor flange and abnormal shaft loading. Allow small radial and axial load within factory specified range, excessive external load will lead to bearing premature damage.

Chapter 5 Operating Environmental Requirements

Permitted continuous working ambient temperature ranges from 0°C to +40°C; storage temperature for spare motor is from -20°C to +85°C under non-powered state. Working environment relative humidity shall maintain between 20% and 80% without condensation on motor surface. Avoid installation in environment with corrosive gas, oil mist, metal powder and continuous vibration. Applicable working altitude is below 1000 meters above sea level; when using above 1000m altitude, derate motor output power properly according to actual altitude.

Chapter 6 Matching Servo Driver & Wiring Guidance

Compatible matching SERVOPACK models are SGDS-01A series and early SGDA-01AS 200V grade servo drives, these drivers are specially designed for 100W SGM-01 series motors of Sigma I generation. Motor main power cable connects U/V/W three-phase terminal of driver power output terminal block, separate encoder cable plugs into driver 2CN encoder connector. Strictly follow wiring sequence defined by connector pin assignment, wrong pin connection will result in encoder fault alarm or motor failure to operate normally. Use shielded cables for both power and encoder wiring, connect shielding layer to equipment ground terminal for anti-interference purpose.

Chapter 7 Commissioning & Regular Maintenance

After finishing wiring inspection, execute no-load trial run firstly without connecting mechanical load. Set basic driver parameters including motor rated current, encoder resolution and speed gain before power-on trial. If abnormal vibration, noise or overheat occurs during running, cut off power immediately to check wiring and mechanical assembly condition. Daily maintenance content includes checking connector looseness, cable outer skin damage and motor surface dust accumulation; periodic inspection focuses on bearing abnormal noise and shaft clearance change.

Chapter 8 Common Fault Troubleshooting

When driver displays encoder related alarm code, mainly check loose encoder plug, broken core inside encoder cable or encoder internal damage of motor. Motor no rotation after power supply: verify U/V/W power wiring correctness, driver enable signal input status and parameter setting matching with motor specification. Motor overheating in operation: check long-time overload running, poor ventilation environment or abnormal mechanical stuck load on output shaft.

Chapter 9 Typical Application Scope

This 100W servo motor is widely used on small precision automation equipment including miniature feeding mechanism, desktop dispensing machine, small indexing rotary fixture, labeling auxiliary mechanism and laboratory precision testing equipment.
