1. Product Overview & Model Explanation
SGDB-3ZADY278 is an OEM customized 30kW high-power servo drive of Yaskawa Sigma-I series, original production discontinued; available units are tested refurbished spare parts for legacy special equipment maintenance.
SGDB: Sigma-I generation servo amplifier series
3Z: Rated output power 30kW, three-phase AC200V high-power specification
AD: Dual command input design, supporting both pulse position command and ±10VDC analog speed/torque command
Y: Customized hardware including modified regenerative circuit and rearranged CN1 I/O pin assignment for designated OEM machines
Y278: Exclusive factory customized firmware version with unique preset parameters different from standard SGDB-3ZAD and other custom codes like Y174.
Matching servo motor: SGMG-30A series 30kW, 200V class servo motor compatible with incremental or absolute encoder.
2. Electrical Specifications
Main power supply: Three-phase AC200~230V, 50/60Hz; separate independent control power terminal is configured for auxiliary circuit power input.
Rated continuous output power: 30kW, with 300% short-time peak overload capacity to handle heavy startup and shock load; maximum three-phase PWM output voltage ranges from AC0 to 230V.
Custom built-in regenerative circuit under Y specification; regenerative overvoltage threshold is specially set by Y278 firmware, external regenerative resistor is required under frequent high-speed deceleration operating conditions.
3. Control Functions & Interface
Three working modes selectable via internal parameter setting:
Pulse position control: Accept line driver or open-collector pulse signals including CW/CCW dual pulse and A/B quadrature pulse; electronic gear ratio is adjustable by parameter.
Analog speed/torque control: Receive ±10VDC external analog reference; gain and offset default values are pre-defined in exclusive Y278 factory firmware.
MECHATROLINK-I bus hardware is reserved onboard, but bus control function is locked by Y278 customized firmware and cannot be activated normally.
CN1 connector integrates position pulse terminals, analog command terminals and general digital I/O such as servo enable, fault reset, positioning completion output and dry-contact alarm relay output. CN2 is dedicated encoder port supporting 8192P/R incremental encoder and battery-backed absolute encoder. Onboard RS232 serial port connects with SigmaWin software for parameter uploading/downloading, real-time status monitoring and fault waveform recording.
4. Protection Functions
Full protection coverage includes overvoltage, overcurrent, continuous overload, power module overheat, encoder disconnection, regenerative overvoltage and abnormal input power protection. Corresponding fault codes are displayed on front LED digital indicator, and external dry-contact alarm signal is provided for host equipment interlock stop control.
5. Environmental and Mechanical Data
Protection grade IP20, must be installed inside closed electrical cabinet away from water splash, heavy oil mist and conductive floating dust.
Operating ambient temperature: 0℃ ~ +55℃ with no condensation; storage temperature: -20℃ ~ +85℃; working relative humidity:10%~90%RH without dew formation.
Cooling method: forced air cooling by dual built-in cooling fans; fixed by mounting screws only without standard DIN rail installation. The product complies with CE safety certification.
6. Application & Replacement Notes
Auto inertia identification and auto gain tuning functions are available to optimize servo loop gain and shorten commissioning time; front-panel JOG inching allows manual forward/reverse motor test without external controller. Built-in dynamic brake realizes rapid motor stop during emergency stop or unexpected power loss; historical fault data is stored in internal memory for troubleshooting.
Standard SGDB-3ZAD cannot be directly used as replacement due to unique Y278 firmware settings on I/O definition, regenerative parameters and gain values; complete parameter reset and wiring check are necessary when substituting with general model. This customized drive is mainly applied on heavy-duty customized CNC machine tools, large load feed axes and original OEM dedicated automation production lines.
