JZNC-RK42

JZNC-RK42 is a compact modular backplane chassis developed by Yaskawa Electric for legacy YASNAC LX3 / MX3 CNC control system, upgraded compact variant derived from JZNC-RK41 series backplane rack, matching JZNC-RK32 main CPU board and JZNC-OP15/OP16 operation panels. Standard sub-models: JZNC-RK42-2, RK42-3, RK42-4, numbered suffix stands for total card slot quantity, mainly applied on small-size CNC lathes, compact milling machines and mini Motoman robot controller cabinets with limited installation space. It integrates metal mounting frame + internal backplane PCB, responsible for system bus signal transmission and centralized DC power distribution for all inserted control boards.

Description

1. Product Overview

JZNC-RK42 is a compact modular backplane chassis developed by Yaskawa Electric for legacy YASNAC LX3 / MX3 CNC control system, upgraded compact variant derived from JZNC-RK41 series backplane rack, matching JZNC-RK32 main CPU board and JZNC-OP15/OP16 operation panels. Standard sub-models: JZNC-RK42-2, RK42-3, RK42-4, numbered suffix stands for total card slot quantity, mainly applied on small-size CNC lathes, compact milling machines and mini Motoman robot controller cabinets with limited installation space. It integrates metal mounting frame + internal backplane PCB, responsible for system bus signal transmission and centralized DC power distribution for all inserted control boards.

2. Electrical & Mechanical Parameters

  • Rated Input Power: DC24V ±10% from rack-mounted CPS series power supply card; maximum total bus output current: 6A

  • Slot Configuration (core model classification):

    • JZNC-RK42-2: 2-card slot (ultra-small chassis for basic single-axis or auxiliary I/O expansion)

    • JZNC-RK42-3: 3-card slot (most common compact specification for standard small CNC machine)

    • JZNC-RK42-4: 4-card slot (medium compact rack for multi-axis + extra PLC expansion boards)

  • Material: Zinc-coated steel frame + FR4 industrial backplane circuit board

  • Dimension Reference:

    RK42-2: 215(W)×310(H)×165(D) mm; RK42-3:275(W)×310(H)×165(D) mm; RK42-4:335(W)×310(H)×165(D) mm

  • Net Weight Range: 1.2kg ~ 2.1kg per different slot version

  • Bus Type: Exclusive Yasnac proprietary parallel NC bus compatible with RK41 and RK32 system hardware

3. Core Functional Features

  1. Central Power Distribution: Distribute stabilized DC24V power from power supply module to every slot via backplane internal copper circuit

  2. Inter-board Bus Communication: Realize high-speed data exchange between JZNC-RK32 main CPU, servo control daughter boards, external I/O interface boards and panel communication modules

  3. Compact Expansion Layout: Small footprint design saves cabinet space for compact-type machine tool electrical layout, flexible plug-in expansion according to actual axis and I/O configuration

  4. Anti-vibration Mechanical Support: Reinforced metal rack fixes all PCB cards steadily against workshop vibration and mechanical impact

4. Compatible Matching Boards

  • Main Control CPU Board: JZNC-RK32 / RK32B-M series master control board

  • Rack Power Module: CPS-10FB plug-in power supply card

  • Servo Axis Boards: MMI3, MMI4 servo control PCBs

  • I/O & Communication Expansion: CPI1, standard Yasnac I/O interface boards

  • Operator Panel: JZNC-OP15 / JZNC-OP16 front operation unit

5. Environmental Working Specifications

  • Operating Temperature: 0℃ ~ +55℃ inside sealed electrical cabinet; Storage temperature: -20℃ ~ +70℃

  • Ambient Humidity: 10%~85%RH without condensation; strictly avoid oil mist, cutting fluid vapor and conductive dust accumulation inside rack slots

  • Vibration Resistance: Continuous working anti-vibration ≤0.4G

6. Replacement & Installation Steps

  1. Cut off total AC input power of machine, wait over 10 minutes for internal cabinet capacitor full discharge to avoid component burnout

  2. Mark each plug-in board position and all external wiring before pulling out all PCB modules sequentially from rack slots

  3. Remove fixed mounting screws of original RK42 chassis and detach from cabinet base plate

  4. Secure new replacement JZNC-RK42 rack at original installation position and tighten all fixing bolts

  5. Reinstall each function PCB into pre-marked slots and recover all external wiring following original labels

  6. Complete wiring inspection before power-on, test system startup, HMI panel communication and axis manual jog function

7. Common Fault Diagnosis

  1. Whole system no power-up: Inspect DC24V input line, blown backplane main fuse or open-circuit of backplane power copper trace

  2. Single slot board communication failure: Dirty slot gold finger oxidation or cracked internal backplane circuit; clean contact terminals or replace complete rack

  3. Intermittent system alarm & unstable axis movement: Dampness or excessive dust causing poor backplane conduction, or aging PCB copper foil

8. Safety Operation Notes

  • Never hot-plug any circuit board under powered status; instantaneous surge voltage will damage backplane and inserted control boards

  • All disassembly, replacement and maintenance work must be operated by certified technicians familiar with Yasnac LX3/MX3 hardware

  • Prohibit random jumper repair for damaged backplane traces; replace original standard rack for long-term stable operation

9. Product Lifecycle Status

JZNC-RK42 series has been discontinued by Yaskawa original factory; currently available only as used refurbished or surplus spare parts for maintenance of old-model CNC lathe/milling equipment.
