Description

1. General Information

JANCD-SV028 is a dedicated servo control board manufactured by Yaskawa Electric and Motoman Robotics. It belongs to the servo amplifier series for classic robot controller systems. This product has been officially discontinued, and only used, refurbished or new old stock units are available on the current market. It adopts standard rack-mounted plug-in structure, matching the dedicated backplane of corresponding controllers.

2. Technical Specifications

The board is powered by 24 V DC supplied from the system backplane, with a maximum operating current of 3.2 A. It adopts pulse width modulation control mode to drive servo motors stably. This board is designed to control two servo axes independently, and supports full closed-loop regulation of position, speed and torque.
The operating temperature ranges from 0 °C to 40 °C, and the storage temperature is between -20 °C and 60 °C. The relative humidity for operation and storage shall not exceed 80%, and condensation is strictly prohibited. It is equipped with multiple signal interfaces including motor power terminals, encoder signal ports, limit signals and emergency stop circuits. On-board LED indicators are used to display power status, running state and fault alarms in real time.

3. Main Functions

This board undertakes the core driving and control work of servo axes. It receives motion commands from the main CPU board through the internal system bus, and converts the commands into driving signals to control the rotation of servo motors. It collects real-time feedback data from encoders to complete closed-loop adjustment, ensuring high positioning accuracy and stable running speed of each axis.
It is built with multiple safety protection circuits, including overcurrent, overvoltage, overheating and short-circuit protection. When abnormal operating conditions occur, the board will immediately trigger protection and send alarm signals to the system to prevent damage to motors and mechanical structures. It also supports linkage with limit switches and emergency stop signals to meet industrial safety operation requirements.

4. Compatibility

JANCD-SV028 is specially developed for Motoman XRC series robot controllers, and can work cooperatively with supporting CPU boards, backplane and I/O boards of the XRC system. It can be used together with other servo boards of the same series to form a multi-axis control system for robots.
This board cannot be used on ERC, NX100, DX and YRC series robot controllers, nor is it compatible with LX/MX series CNC systems and their matching circuit boards. There is no pin compatibility with early SV02 series boards, so cross-model replacement is not allowed.

5. Installation Instructions

Cut off the main power supply of the controller first, and wait for more than five minutes to fully discharge the internal capacitors. Wear an anti-static wrist strap during the whole operation process to avoid static electricity damaging electronic components. Align the board with the designated slot on the backplane and insert it in place, then tighten the fixing screws. After all signal and power cables are connected correctly, restore the power supply and test the running status of servo axes and alarm indicators.

6. Troubleshooting

If the servo axis fails to operate, check whether the 24 V DC power supply of the backplane is normal, reinsert the board and clean the gold-plated connectors to eliminate poor contact. In case of running jitter or position offset, inspect encoder wiring and related servo parameter settings.
When the board keeps triggering fault alarms, check the motor load, internal circuit and protection components. If communication abnormality appears between this board and the main control unit, re-seat adjacent boards and inspect the backplane bus lines.

7. Maintenance & Safety Notes

Never plug or unplug the board and connected cables when the equipment is powered on. Keep the board and the inside of the control cabinet clean, dry and away from dust, oil mist and corrosive gas. Regularly inspect terminals and connectors to prevent faults caused by aging and loose connection. All maintenance operations must follow industrial electrical safety specifications.
