JANCD-MM14C

JANCD-MM14C is a CMOS RAM expansion board manufactured by Yaskawa Electric. It is the C revision of the JANCD-MM14 series, designed for Motoman XRC and ERC robot controllers. This board serves as volatile memory for running programs, runtime data and I/O buffering, and works together with MM13 series ROM boards to form a complete memory system. The product has been discontinued, and only used or refurbished spare parts are available for equipment maintenance.

Description

1. General Description

JANCD-MM14C is a CMOS RAM expansion board produced by Yaskawa Electric. It is the Revision C model of the MM14 series, developed for Motoman XRC and ERC robot controllers. This volatile memory module is designed to store active running programs, real-time motion data and I/O buffer data. It has to work with MM13 series ROM boards to form a complete memory system for normal controller operation. This product is end-of-life, and only used or refurbished spare parts are available for equipment maintenance and replacement.

2. Basic Information

Model: JANCD-MM14C
Manufacturer: Yaskawa Electric
Product Type: Volatile CMOS RAM memory board
Applicable Equipment: Motoman XRC, ERC robot controllers
Form Factor: Standard 3U industrial board
Approximate Weight: 0.35 kg
Product Status: Discontinued / EOL

3. Technical Specifications

Built with 256 KB standard CMOS RAM. It adopts a dedicated parallel bus interface matching the backplane of XRC and ERC controllers. The board is powered by 5 VDC supplied from the controller backplane with a typical operating current of 400 mA. The operating temperature ranges from 0 °C to +40 °C, and the working environment must be free of condensation. The storage temperature ranges from −10 °C to +60 °C. The relative humidity for operation and storage is 5% to 80%, and condensation is prohibited. One red LED is mounted on the board to indicate power status and data access activity.

4. Key Functions

It provides high-speed volatile memory for robot active jobs and real-time operational data. This board must be paired with JANCD-MM13 or MM13B ROM boards to ensure full system functionality. It supports online program editing, program caching and I/O data buffering. Compared with MM14B, it features larger memory capacity to handle more robot programs and complex runtime data.

5. Version and Compatibility

MM14C is an upgraded version of MM14B with increased memory capacity. It is fully interchangeable with other MM14 series boards including MM14B and MM14D on XRC and ERC platforms. This board is exclusively compatible with Motoman XRC and ERC robot controllers. It cannot be applied to MRC, MX2, DX series robot controllers or any non-Yaskawa devices.

6. Installation and Safety Precautions

Cut off all power supplies of the controller before installation or removal. Hot swapping is strictly forbidden to avoid permanent hardware damage. Always wear a grounded anti-static wristband during operation to protect internal electronic components from static discharge. Align the edge connector and insert the board into an empty 3U slot, then tighten the fixing screws to resist vibration. Keep the board away from moisture, dust, oil stains and physical impact. Do not disassemble, modify or repair the board without authorization.
