JANCD-MM08
Description
1. General Description
2. Specifications
Model: JANCD‑MM08
Manufacturer: Yaskawa Electric
Type: Non‑volatile program/parameter memory expansion board (without PROM)
Storage Media: High‑density Flash array, permanent data retention without power
Storage Capacity: The largest in MM series; supports massive CNC programs, robot jobs, multi‑axis parameters, I/O configurations, tool offsets, fault logs, and full system backups
Core Functions: Stores system firmware, user applications, motion parameters, I/O mapping, tool compensation, and historical faults; supports system boot, data backup/restore, offline migration, and controller cloning
Hardware Interface: Proprietary parallel‑bus edge connector for standard 3U backplane slot
Power Supply: 5 VDC from backplane; low power, no external supply needed
Operating Temperature: 0 °C to +55 °C
Storage Temperature: −20 °C to +70 °C
Humidity: 5% RH to 95% RH, non‑condensing
Mounting: 3U slot, two screws for vibration resistance
Weight: Approximately 1.0 kg
Compatibility: YASNAC J50/i60/i70 CNC; Motoman XRC/MRC robots. Not compatible with DX series, i80/i90, or non‑Yaskawa systems
Product Status: Discontinued; maintenance spare only
Reliability: Anti‑static, surge, and over‑voltage protection; industrial‑grade durability
3. Installation and Replacement
Power Off: Shut down the controller and disconnect all power to avoid shock or damage.
Locate Slot: Use an available 3U slot in the controller rack.
Insert Board: Align edge connector with slot; insert firmly until fully seated.
Secure Board: Fasten with two mounting screws to prevent vibration loosening.
Power On: Reconnect power; system auto‑detects and initializes the board.
Load Data: After recognition, load programs/parameters or restore backups via the menu.
4. Backup and Restore
Backup: Use CNC panel or teach pendant to save programs, parameters, offsets, and logs to MM08.
Restore: Boot from the memory board or select “Restore from Memory Board” to recover data.
Cloning: One‑click data cloning between identical compatible controllers.
Best Practice: Keep redundant backups (on‑board + external USB) to prevent data loss.
5. Safety and Handling Precautions
ESD Protection: Wear a grounded anti‑static wrist strap when handling the board.
No Hot Plugging: Never insert/remove the board with power on; risk of permanent damage.
Environment: Avoid static, moisture, dust, oil, and impact. Store in a dry, anti‑static bag.
No Modification: Do not open, repair, or alter the board; tampering voids warranty.
Ventilation: Keep controller vents clear; clean dust annually for proper heat dissipation.
6. Compatibility Statement
7. Difference from JANCD‑MM06
JANCD‑MM06: Enhanced high‑capacity model for standard large applications.
JANCD‑MM08: Ultimate high‑capacity variant with maximum storage, faster read/write, superior anti‑interference, and extended temperature tolerance; pin‑compatible and interchangeable with MM06 for direct upgrade.
